Robert Mulder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 3 to Jun. 10, 2023.
On June 2, 2023, Robert "Bobby" Mulder, 78, of Charlotte, NC, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, bid farewell to this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on July 13, 1944, in Ahoskie, NC, Bobby was the son of Horace Irving Mulder and Mary Virginia Brown.

Bobby's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him dearly. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia, his daughters Lisa Mulder, Sharon Geer (Webb), and Cara Zupancic (Joe). Bobby was a proud grandfather to his two grandchildren, Skylar Harrelson and Eli Zupancic. He also leaves behind his sister, Gloria Hoggard, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Mary, as well as his sisters, Joyce Terry and Linda Harrell.

Bobby's career spanned over 46 years in the retail meat market business, where he excelled. He took great pride in his work and was known for his dedication, expertise, and ability to build personal relationships. In addition to his profession, Bobby had a deep passion for his family, his home, and his yard. From his earliest days he found joy in detailing his belongings, starting with his bicycle and wagon and proceeding to the many cars he owned over his lifetime.

Bobby always had an entertaining tale to share, accompanied by a quick wit and a good dad joke. A favorite quip about ordering "diet water" never failed to bring smiles and laughter. Bobby was also a talented cook specializing in fried chicken, his famous barbecue chicken, homemade sausage, and "cabbards," which he prepared with love for his family and friends.

Bobby was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, where he found support and fellowship with his Kerygma Sunday School Class. His commitment to his community extended to his membership of the Steele Creek Masonic Lodge #737, where he found camaraderie and a sense of purpose.

Bobby enjoyed beach music and danced all his life, from nights at Colerain Beach to his membership in the Charlotte Shag Club at Lynn's Dance Club. He found immense delight in sharing the dance floor with his beloved wife and treasured friends at SOS gatherings in North Myrtle Beach. Those gatherings became a sanctuary for him, a place where he could lose himself in the music and movement, surrounded by a community of kindred spirits.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Bobby's life will be planned for the fall, allowing family and friends to gather, reminisce, and pay their respects. May his memory live on in our hearts as we continue to cherish the time we had with him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Samaritan's Purse.

Our family has known Bob for many years, as he and Cindy have been wonderful neighbors to our daughter, Beth. He was always there when she needed any kind of help, even without being asked, and he always listened when she needed it the most. He was a very giving man to everyone he knew, and we are so thankful that Beth, who lives far away from her family, had him in her life. My deepest sympathy to Cindy and all of their family. Bob will be greatly missed. Susan Williams
