My most sincere condolences for your untimely and tragic loss. I was shocked to find out about Bob this way. I knew him from his time he spent in Berlin, Germany. He always had such a bright smile and was so full of life!!! He loved his little convertible!!! He is terribly missed. I have fond memories of him. My prayers go out to the family - even though very late.

Bobby, Steve and I think about you all the time. We miss you so very much. We were sitting there the other night and both of us at the same time looked at the mantel and starting talking about you. You see you are on my mantel so everyday I can look at your beautiful face. I still can not believe you are gone. Love you

I first met Robert, through his friends Tom and another Robert in SF about 1991 or so. While we did not spend a lot of time together in total, each time our paths crossed, he had a rapid smile, much to say, and fun was in the moments ahead. Hearing of his sudden passing while on vacation with my young sons, and now reading of his accomplishments as a father, and just learning today of the passing of a cousin of mine, brings home once again my need to pay great attention to all my available moments with family and friends.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I am living in Hollywood and am 94 years of age now. I regret that I am unable to attend the memorial today but for health reasons and the stress I am not attending.

I send my deepest heart felt love and condolences to my dear, dear, sweetie wife Gracie, whom I hold dear in my heart and am with her in heart and mind, even though I was unable to attend.

Some things come to mind when I think about Bobby. Here are just a few memories:

" I knew Robert as Bobby, we had some disagreements at times but I think bobby was one great guy , dear to my heart.
A few things come to mind: When Bobby was 9 he was under my care in Rohnert Park. One time he got the flue and was in bed a few days. One the third day he said I feel better, but did not want to go to school. I said to him, I have some school books here,we will do some school work at home. He said 'I'd rather go to school.' So I said, get your fanny out of here and go to school.
At that time I was playing tennis and bobby became interested in tennis. I bought him a used tennis racket. When we got on the court some pro suggested I buy him a new racket. I bought bobby a new racket and told him, when the strings break ,I will buy you a new one. So bobby said "I hope the strings break right now."
Another time I remember is when Bobby was watching TV in my home and I said , no TV until after 6 pm. So he said "ok". Then I found out that Bobby was going to other peoples houses to watch TV. So I said, what the heck, you can't beat the system.
Let me close by saying:
Bobby was one great guy and all you people here, I have you all in my heart, especially my dear, dear sweetie wife Gracie !!!
Thank you all. Any may the Lord richly bless you!

My Dear Brother will be dearly missed; for even though we had different life styles, He was always deeply loved and I was always only a phone call away for him.
Let this be a reminder to all the living that anyone of us could be gone without notice or warning.
Here are some verses below I have added as a reminder to the living.
In Christ,
Brother Frank

===================================
James 4:14
"whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

1 Peter 1:24-25
For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

John 14:5-6
Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?"

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Mat 11:28-29

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

2 Cr 10:18
For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

1 Cr 15:22
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.?

John 5:24
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.? "

My father, the late Richard Nelson, at whose funeral Robert spoke, was a good friend of Robert's and enjoyed many a beer with him over lunch at the old Pier 29. He gave my Dad one his coveted Mr. RDR license plates as he was dying of cancer in 2002 and was very supportive to our family. I'll never forget going out to Angel Island one year with my Dad for Robert's birthday - he had everyone ferried out on boats (one of which took longer than anticipated...) and the whole day was a blast. I am sure the two of them are sipping beers right now, telling stories and laughing again.

Condolences to friends and family from Chris & Carolyn Nelson

To Robert, Sons & Family:

I'm so sorry to hear about your father's passing and for your loss. Your dad could light up a room like no one else; he truly loved people.

I'm very lucky I got to hang out and really get to know him on a few memorable occasions. We shared a love for our kids, and he spoke often of his boys and how tremendously proud he was.

He was an inspiration in so many ways to a lot of us, and our lives are richer because of him.

Always know your father is watching over you, and on the most perfect days, know it is his big smile that is lighting your way. Your dad truly lived life and set an example for us all.

May the Lord hold you all safely in the palm of his hand, until you see your father again.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all -

Robert, I can't believe this is true. I hadn't seen Robert in awhile & just saw him last last Thursday night. After catching up for awhile, the subject turned to his kids & the fact that one had just finished his 2nd year at Harvard & another had just been admitted to Princeton. It seemed to me like Robert's smile got even bigger when talking about his kids. I could tell he was so proud of his kids. I know you're in a better place embarcing on an encredible journey. We'll struggle down here without you, but all of your friends will see you soon. Love you brother,

For a short period of time I had the sweet pleasure of enjoying Robert's intoxicating company. His personality is effervescent. I don't think anybody had captivated my heart so quickly as he had. I was thoroughly smitten by his charming ways, & delighted to be by his side at all times. Though the romance was brief, our friendship was long, & will never be forgotten. I will miss our conversations but he will always be strong in my heart. With deep condolences to all of his loved ones, my prayers are with you.

My deepest condolences to Bobby's family! I was shocked to read of his tragic passing. I remember the day in our early teens driving the beer cart around the golf course in Alameda at my dads golf tournament like it was yesterday. Bobby always called me Chucky because I wouldn't call him Robert. I'll miss you my friend but I know your alongside your dad and in a better place.
