May 25, 1937 - Feb. 10, 2013
Robert Lee Purdy, 75, of Venice, FL died February 10, 2013. Bob was born May 25, 1937 in Clinton, PA to Olive (Douds) and James Lee Purdy. Bob graduated from Grove City College and after completing his MBA at NYU, Bob was employed at Koppers Co. in Pittsburgh, Pa, Talon in Meadville, PA and Werner Ladder in Greenville, PA. Throughout his life, he devoted much of his spare time to various community service organizations, often serving as an officer. Bob was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed extensive traveling. He was preceded in death by his son, James Howard Purdy. Survivors include his beloved wife, Shirley; his son, Raymond (Emiko) Purdy of Mineral, VA; daughter, Cynthia Purdy of North Port, FL; sisters: Joan (Paul) Mrha of Venice, FL and Carole (Donald) Stewart of Venice, FL; granddaughter, Stephanie Purdy, USAF, MacDill, Tampa, FL. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Feb 28, at 2:30 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, Venice, FL. Inurnment will be at the Presbyterian Church in Clinton, PA.

SHirley and family, It was always great to see Bob in the Heart Failure Center because he was always upbeat. His positive attitude and desire to stay well helped him through so much. It was both an honor and a pleasure to able to care for him. May your memories fulfill you and know that he did his best. As always, Michael

Sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I met Bob by way of the Jacaranda yearly directory which he would bring into my print shop. Bob was a kind and gentle man. He will be missed.
