Robert Ransford Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 14, 2025.
Robert Nelson "Bob" Ransford passed away on February 1, 2025, in Granite Bay, California, at the age of 85. Born on September 12, 1939, in Sullivan, Indiana, Bob lived a life dedicated to service, family, and adventure.

Bob pursued higher education at California State University Sacramento, earning a degree in Social Welfare. He also obtained a single-subject teaching credential in Social Science. His commitment to public service led him to a distinguished 30-year career as a police officer and sergeant with the Roseville Police Department. Even after retiring from law enforcement, Bob continued his dedication to community service by working as a code enforcement officer for both the City of Rocklin and the City of Roseville.

Beyond his professional life, Bob had a deep love for physical activity and the outdoors. He was an avid runner who completed seven marathons, an enthusiastic skier, and a passionate motorcycle rider. Basketball was another of his great joys, and he was a devoted fan of the Sacramento Kings. Gardening brought him peace, while traveling allowed him to explore new places and experiences. Above all else, Bob cherished time spent with his family.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. His sense of duty extended beyond his military service and career-he was known for his generosity and willingness to help others.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol Ransford; daughters Dayna Murphy (Brian) and Erika Tooker (Brad); sons Roger Ransford (Kelly), Mark Sisto (Maria), Jeremy Ransford (Kelly), Joel Ransford (Megan), and Brett Ransford; brothers-in-law Earl Anthony and Lynne Mounday (Bernadine); nieces Cara Anthony (Ken) and Amber Mauck (Roger); nephew Wells Mounday; eight grandsons; eight granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Harry Nelson Ransford; stepmother Aline Hammond; mother Mildred Cox Clark; stepfather William Clark; sister Rea Clark Anthony and nieces Chere Anthony and Cami Rookstool.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church of Loomis, located at 6414 Brace Road in Loomis, California. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall.

In honor of Bob's generous spirit, donations may be made to the Senior Life Center, Loomis Basin Food Pantry or The Gathering Inn via the First United Methodist Church of Loomis, or to the Parkinson's Association of Northern California at www.panctoday.org/donate.

Bob's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on in those who knew him.
