Robert Sabel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2024.
Robert A. Sabel, 75, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones on November 10, 2024. He was born on January 16, 1949 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Bob, as everyone knew him, was a much-loved father, grandpa, brother, son and friend, known for his selfless, gentle, wise, and kind-hearted nature.

Bob was a visionary and loved being a business owner, which included running a golf course, a grocery store, and a floor covering Shoppe. His enterprises were not only successful but also beloved in their respective communities, reflecting his commitment to service and excellence.

He served his community spiritually as well, being an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and St. Mark Catholic Church in Oro Valley, Arizona. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily interactions and endeavors.

Bob was an avid reader, golfer and card player. Long road trips, great music, and dreams of the wild west carried him through his life. He also cherished the simple joy of caring for birds and other critters that visited his home.

He is survived by his sons, Zachary R Sabel and Adam (Laura) Sabel; their mom, Katheryn Sabel; grandsons, Alexander, Tanner, and Matthew Sabel; siblings, Mary Scofield, Joyce Sandberg, Kathleen Martin, Ronald Sabel, and Jerome Sabel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregor and Marie Sabel.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Road, Oro Valley, Arizona, on December 4, with visitation at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. A reception luncheon will follow at Catalina State Park for family and friends. There will also be a Celebration of Life held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado during the summer 2025.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Indian Education Fund, an organization close to Bob's heart. Donations can be made online or mailed to 16415 Addison Rd, Suite 200, Addison, TX 75001-3210.

I have so many memories of time spent with my brother Bob. Building tents in the backyard as kids, crashing his car when I just got my license, helping him lay carpet when he was working at Pranges, our trip to Colorado with Ron and Carole and Kathy, tending bar at Town and Country Club, sitting around the campfire at the cottage, his trips to visit Mom and Fish Fry's at Wendt's, playing sheepshead and listening to music, my visits to see him in Colorado Springs and Tucson. The list goes on and on and my last visit this summer. Heaven just got another angel and Bob is back with Mom and Dad and Jesus.

I will miss you, Uncle Bob! I have been blessed to have met this family through marriage, I have been so welcomed into this family and have learned a lot from them. Uncle Bob and I both smoked when I first met him and He and I had some great conversations while we were smoking, we both ended up quitting smoking! I will truly miss you!

I have so many memories of Uncle Bob, I was blessed to have married into this great Sabel family, When I first started coming to family events with my husband I smoked and so did Uncle Bob, So he and I would have some great conversations while we were out smoking, eventually we both gave them up! I will miss you much, Dennis I will never forget you

I have so many precious memories, with my Brother Bob. My visits to Tucson and our early morning coffee on the patio, with temps in the 40´s and our cocktails every night. Playing cards and so much laughter. Our 4th of Julys at Crystal Lake, in WI. I could go on and on. Bob was a very Giving Person, he´d rather give, than to receive. I will Definitely, Miss my Brother.
