Glenda and family,
We were sorry to hear that Buck's smile would no longer be so quickly available but are happy to know that he is such a warm and loving gentleman that his spirit and his smile are always there to add warmth to our lives. We lived in Brown County for almost 10 years and went to the CYO Camps and have visited there for over 40 years since we were in grade school and Buck is a permanent bright spot and reason that even after many years that Brown County still holds a special place in our hearts. Buck came to my mother's funeral in Terre Haute about 9 years ago to show solidarity with my two brothers (also law enforcement officers) and I and just because he cared. To see his familiar face in the crowd seated in the church for her service and get a hug and smile afterwards brought a little sunshine and reminder that people cared and honored her. I had the pleasure of working with Buck professionally from '80-'87 when I served as County Probation Officer and even though I knew and liked Buck before that, came to respect his quiet, calm wisdom and ready smile and sense of humor. Coffee with the Conservation Officers (Jack and Buck) was a treat and they always stopped in the Probation Office to say Hi when they were in the courthouse. I stopped in his office about 3 years ago in Oct when we were in Nashville to visit and even though he was very busy and on his way out, he stopped and reminisced and introduce me his staff - yes, he has a way of making you feel special.

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers and I believe we have a new guardian angel for all of the Van Buren, Bellesville Pike, and Brown County in general crowd no matter how far we have traveled - that Angel has a grin that won't quit stil stands watch.

With love and prayers for peace and happiness for you, Glenda, and Buck's huge family which extends farther that you probably know.

Glenda and Family,
There is not much you can say at this time that hasn't been said before. Buck of course was a special person. I sat with him in many meetings. I always found him to be fair, concerned and compassionate toward issues and the people of Brown County. We can all learn lessons from the way he chose to live his life.

I was so sorry to hear of Buck's passing. He was such a great man and a pillar in our community. There aren't many who are willing to serve our country and community with pride like Buck did. He was what American males should strive to be... honest, trustworthy and full of integrity. I never knew him to shy away from something he knew was worth fighting for. I have and will continue to pray for Glenda, my friend from 1st grade - Brad and the rest of the family...But remember: “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ...Amen.

Buck Stogsdill was one of the most sincere, honest, and genuine men that I have had the pleasure of knowing! He treated everyone with respect. Difficult qualities to find in today's environment! He will be greatly missed, but I do find peace in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with his grandson.

As a reserve deputy in the late 70's, I often worked alongside Buck. He was someone I felt I could trust. He was a good man before he became an officer, and a better man as an officer. He knew who he was, and he treated those around him with respect. I was proud to have called him my friend.

I will miss this dear man who always greeted me with a warm smile and, on several occasions, went out of his way to make sure I was doing alright when I was very ill. He really made this old Brown County resident feel safe and cared for. My prayers and blessings go out to his family and friends. I will never forget his kindness toward me and the care he showed to those in our wonderful community.

Thanks for all you did for us all, Buck.
