After a brief battle with cancer, Robert Aguon Teodosio, 58, passed away softly in his sleep on September 22, surrounded in spirit and in person by those who love him. Born on Guam to Laura and Inocentes Teodosio, Robert was the second oldest of the six siblings.
A lifelong martial arts enthusiast, Robert founded the North Seattle Branch of Universal Kempo Karate Schools Association. He was the kind of instructor that taught more than just the physical art. He influenced students by his example as he treated them with respect, kindness and a true Kempo spirit. Robert also trained in Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where his indomitable spirit and humor gained him many friends.
Fortunate to have found his career passion as a writer and editor, Robert enjoyed his jobs at the Pacific Daily News, Guam Tribune, Renton Reporter, and at the Shoreline and Seattle school districts.
Robert’s beliefs were centered around the practice of kindness to all and he lived his life with patience, compassion, and an unfailing love for family and friends. He is survived by his wife and friend, Tammy, his five children and their spouses, Selena Pippenger, Susan and Rico Ordonio, Eric Teodosio, Dylan Teodosio, and Tally Teodosio, and his five grandchildren Tyler Yamamoto, Lily Ordonio, Ka’ani Ann, Ki’ana Ellen, and Eric Teodosio II, his brothers and sisters and spouses, Junior and Nieva Teodosio, Linda and Benson Edward, Romeo and Donna Teodosio, Ronnie and Socorro San Agustin, Lucy and Michael Gandara, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
Memorial donations can be sent to the family at PO Box 88262 Seattle, WA 98138.

Hi Dad,
It's me again... I like writing to you here. It's therapeutic. Now that the hustle and bustle of planning your service is nearly over, it's quieter here than I like. I find myself wanting to talk to you - to ask you if you liked the pilot of Gotham, or if you've had dinner yet. To find out if you want to BBQ this weekend, or how karate was. I think you would have liked the service yesterday, and you would have been so proud to see how all the aunties came together to prepare the food for the reception. Not to mention the L&L catered food from the NW Kempo Ohana. I am sure I can see your double eyebrow pump now, indicating your approval. Not that you had any doubt about how it would turn out. Your confidence and faith that it would all work out still astonishes me. But it really shouldn't be a surprise since you attracted people much like yourself to your circle. I'm not sure how much space I can take up here, so I will go now. I know you aren't reading this, but I just want to get it out into the universe. I wish I would have given you more hugs instead of pounding it out and blowing it up. I miss you, dad, and love you so much; and no amount of time will change that.

I now understand Robert better since reading his biography. I always remembered him as such a kind person. We were in the trenches covering not so kind people and situations. Yet he always had that deep sense of respect. May his new found peace bring comfort to his friends and family. My deepest sympathies.

Dad, I'm so proud to be your daughter. You've taught me the right morals to live by, pushed me to strive for my goals, and showed me what it looks like to live a life of generosity and genuine kindness. Your journey has been quick, but you handled it how I knew you would, with bravery and grace. I want you to know that you are the reason I am where I am today, and I'm going to work so hard for you to make you proud; I already promised. I love you so much Dad, and I know when I need it, you will be the one to give me a little push or tell me a joke to get me by. Missing you so much already. You'll always have your own special place in my heart.

I met Robert at Seattle Gracie Barra, he attended some my Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing classes he was always respectful and was always willing to learn when he had the time or didn't have family obligations. He was always positive and had a smile on his face, so when he told me he had cancer that really saddened me but even then with our conversation he still had a smile and a positive energy about him! In the short time I've know him He was truly and all around great guy that everybody liked! I am thankful and Blessed to have known Robert he will be truly missed! My Deepest Sympathies go out to his friends and family!

Robert was one of my editors when I was an education reporter at the PDN. I believe Tammy was the police beat reporter. Brian Perry was the political reporter at that time. One day the Guam legislature decided to do a session in Chamorro language-only. Robert covered the legislature that day.I admired him even more. About a year later the same thing happened to me on Saipan after I had become a political reporter. I wished Robert was there that day. Robert was smart and talented and kind. He looked me up on fb this past year when my novel set on Guam came out. He was very supportive. I could tell from posts that his children adore him. Robert will be greatly missed.

I knew Robert from his time training at Gracie Barra Seattle. He was a very kind man and made everyone feel comfortable talking to him. I had the honor of teaching him some and was inspired with how he took to the sport and continued with dedication. His kind and gentle nature did not make him any less of a fighter, it made him a better one as he was able to approach everything with an open mind and without ego. It was great to see him get his purple belt for all his hard work and how happy he was and we all were to see him get it. He will be missed.

Selena,
You are truly your father's child. You learned to be gentle and kind from him. And I know someday you will pass those same qualities to your children. What an honor to be raised by your dad in that way. He will be missed by many and live on through you and your siblings. My sincerest prayers for his safe journey home. See you next weekend. Love, Joe

Dad, I miss you. Today Lily smelled popcorn and we thought of you. I know that is just the first of many things that will bring back memories of our time with you. I hope you are able to see all the lives you have touched and the love that surrounds our family because of you. I said to Selena, "Dad had a lot of friends...perhaps I should join more clubs." She said, "Perhaps you should try being nicer." I thought you'd laugh at that little exchange. Anyway, I love you.

Prayers to the family of Robert. I am glad that through Kempo I have gotten to know him over the years. Many times we talked about how age and aches & pains makes it difficult sometimes to continue but we keep fighting on. Little did I know of his final struggles and his warrior spirit to fight on and then turn the battle over to his higher power. You will be missed Robert.
