Where do you start? Everyone who ever met Uncle Roc knew the thick glasses, the infectious laugh, the one-liners, the personality, the groomed hair, etc. These are all signature attributes of a truly unique character and person. He didn’t just have these traits; he owned them. To the people who knew him he was as branded as any celebrity in history.

As a young boy, it was fun to sit and watch people’s faces as he spoke. You never knew what to expect. No matter what room he walked in to, he could say a few words and turn the room’s tone from serious to complete laughter.

We all have fond memories of Uncle Roc. There are far too many to write but I will share my favorite one - He crashed my wedding in 2006. To fly from New Jersey to Southern California after having hip surgery and other medical issues is evidence of how much he loved me. For that, Arlene and I will always be grateful.

I talked to Uncle Roc frequently during his last few months of life. It was my pleasure to:
• Listen to his laugh - especially when we talked about my brother Pete eating all of Aunt Carm’s Pizzelles that she sent me for my wedding (and blamed it on my dad) and how he eats all the food out of my pantry every time he comes over. Incidentally, my mother still thinks it was my dad that ate the Pizzelles.
• Watch Gina’s (my 8 month old daughter) eyes and smile as I held the phone to her ear while Uncle Roc sang and talked to her.
• Listen to him and Aunt Grace bicker when she came to his room (some things never change).

Uncle Roc was truly one of a kind and I take comfort in knowing that he is free of pain and is in a better place. I can picture him in heaven holding my baby son, Thomas; telling him about “checking himself, the sign at the butcher shop, and what to tell the baker”. That helps a grieving parent feel some peace. I guess heaven needed some character.

My deepest sympathies to Aunt Grace, Franci, Rocco, Bruce and their families.

Uncle Roc was a legit Bocce player. He (5’9”) and my dad Jake (5’8”) convincingly defeated Rocky (6’3”) and Chuck Williams (6’8”) in Laguna, CA.

Aunt Grace,Rocky,Franci and Bruce,
I'm so saddened to learn of Uncle Roc's passing. He was my favorite Uncle and I'll miss our talks. We had a special relationship. He was my buddy.I'm sure it will be so different coming back here for that 'special' yearly Steelers' game.He was such a jolly guy and I so enjoyed spending time with him.His laugh was contageous. He and Chuck can now root our Steelers home, from above. The two of them got along so well.

I especially enjoyed singing the Italian songs, with Uncle Roc,at the family reunions. Now,maybe he'll finally teach Chuck the words so Chuck will do more than just hum along. They were such characters when together.

I had a great deal of respect, for Uncle Roc.His passing is a terrible loss to all of us,however,I'm comforted that he's no longer in pain and is at peace, with our Lord and those of our family members who passed before him.Imagine their joy when they welcomed him home.My father will be thrilled to see 'Junior' again.

From experience,I know there are no words that can ease your sorrow. The memories that you hold close to your heart will carry you through this sad time. After all,we're all here on loan until our Father calls us home again.

All of you are in my prayers.I wish I could be there with you.I trust you know where my heart is at this sad time.God Bless all.I love you.

It was our true pleasure to grow up with and spend many wonderfull times with Rock, Grace and their entire family. Barbeques, graduation parties, holidays, and a memorable trip to Pittsburgh where we met the entire Perciavalle clan. Too many laughs to ever remember. Rock and family were also there to help us through many hard times as well. Someday we will all be together again enjoying a bushel of crabs and each others company. God Bless You Rock.

There is one thing I can't help but think and giggle.....Heaven is about to see the likes of an angel of which its never seen before!!!

God Bless you Rocky!
