So sorry to hear of Roger's passing. When I was a media student and had to do a video, he gracefully was the actor along with my son. As a nontraditional student, I found his humor and demeanor an enjoyable addition to my life at Broome campus. I regret not being able to submit the short video since I lost much of my student work in moving.

Very sorry to learn of Roger's passing. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and many well-wishers. He had a folksy, easygoing command of his subject and his classroom. Even his laugh seemed to state an opinion.
I was lucky to have had him for SOC 1 and 2 and as my advisor at BCC in the late ' 70s. He was a cherished pen-pal for years after that.

I remember Mr. McVannon's Social Studies class very fondly. I was a sophomore at OFA in 1963 and he sponsored an essay contest that took us through Pa Dutch country. It was an honor to be chosen and I still remember his smile, charm, and how he brought history alive for us. He was young then, but since I was younger, he was THAT teacher you always looked up to. My sincere prayers and thoughts go to you and your entire family.

Dear Mrs. McVannan, Maureen, Liz, and Mary,
As you honor the life of Mr. McVannan today, I would like to extend my sincere prayers to your entire family. His life's journey of service to others was completed with distinction and I am thankful, for the pleasant memories, of laughter because of his unique character, that will never be forgotten. Mr. McVannan served his God, family, friends, and community well. May he now eternally rest, for a life well lived.

Roger was one of the kindest people to me when I first began at the college and he has a special place in my heart. His big smile and open heart gave away his fascination with the people and the world around him and always made one feel happy around him. I will miss Roger and send my heartfelt condolences to all the members of his family.

My son, Wyatt and I had Professor McVannan as a teacher at SUNY Broome. It was a wonderful experience and we consider ourselves lucky to have been his students during his last two semesters there. As an adult student, I appreciated his standard of excellence and his sense of humor. He will surely be missed in life as he was at the college.

Roger was one of my favorite bosses at BCC - he made working in the Registrars office challenging and fun! We had lots of laughs back then. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Roger is the most intelligent, kind and impossible man I have ever worked with.
He has a heart as big as the universe.
He had a thousand hats and loved his Polka!
He will be missed.

Blessings of peace and comfort to the McVannon Family members. I worked in Liberal Arts with Roger and he filled our days with his own personality and humor. A delight to work with and listen to his stories about how proud he was of his family and grandchildren. May your treasured memories bring you comfort and peace. Blessings always, Maria and Andy Supa
