In Loving Memory of Roger Mote

October 10, 1948 - July 19, 2025

Roger Mote, beloved husband, father, PopPop, engineer, golf enthusiast, friend, and eternal optimist, took his final bow on July 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in New Jersey on October 10, 1948, Roger lived a life full of laughter, love, and just the right amount of mischief. Over the years, he called Texas, Arizona, and California home-but no matter the zip code, Roger made friends fast and left a lasting impression. He had that rare gift: making anyone feel like a lifelong buddy within five minutes of meeting him.

For 55 wonderful years, he was a devoted partner-in-crime to his wife, Kathy Reigel Mote. Together, they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and a healthy appreciation for spontaneous adventure. He was a proud and loving father to Jackie Mote Schwegel (Todd) and Traci Mote, and the world's most doting PopPop to Sara Schwegel and Teresa Mote-his biggest fans.

Roger was a hardworking engineer who genuinely loved what he did-but more than that, he loved the people he worked with. He believed in rolling up his sleeves and doing things the right way. When the work was done, he knew how to unwind. He could often be found on the golf course with a putter in one hand, a cigar in the other, and a smile on his face.

A man of principles and playfulness, Roger taught those around him the value of honesty, dedication, and always-always-chasing your dreams. He encouraged big ideas and bigger laughter, and while life eventually slowed him down, it never dulled his wit. He never missed a chance to share a laugh, a story, or a perfectly timed one-liner.

Though he was famously thrifty (never one to pass up a coupon), he would give the shirt off his back to a friend in need. Roger believed in kindness without expectation, generosity without condition, and love without limits.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal service or viewing. Instead, his family will say a quiet goodbye, wrapped in memories and love, just as he wanted.

Roger's spirit will forever echo in the laughs he shared, the lessons he taught, and the lives he touched. If he could leave us with one final piece of advice, it would likely be: Take the trip. Make the toast. Swing for the fences. And never grow up.

Dear Kathy & Girls,
We were so sorry to hear about Roger. We know he is in a better place, pain free and reunited with loved ones who have passed before him. Losing a spouse, especially the love of your life, has to be very difficult and we hope you are sustained by fond memories and support of your family and friends. My mind is flooded with great memories of Roger. The time we spent playing stick ball and basketball at the old bowling alley in Blackwood. We are glad we were able to visit you guys in Texas, Arizona and California. We are also glad we were able to talk with Roger before Laura's wedding last year. He always remained upbeat and in love with life. You are in our thoughts and prayers, Marian & Lou

Kathy and girls, so sad to hear this news about Roger. My HS buddy and personal driver to school, having him in my wedding party was very special to me. Although are paths separated us, I d hoped you were doing well and we did get a few chance meetings over the years to enjoy our time together. I am battling Parkinson´s disease so I hope Roger didn´t suffer and was at peace. Donna and I send our prayers, take care Jim n Donna Wilson
