Roger proudly served in the U.S. Army, a testament to his dedication and valor. Following his military service, he continued his life of service as a Chicago Police Officer for 31 years, protecting and serving with unwavering commitment by volunteering every year at St. Jude's annual breakfast. Roger was also a long-standing member of The Fraternal Order of Police, Blue Knights, HOG, Illinois Police Association, Chicago Police Association of Nevada, and The Grandsons of Italy. He enjoyed his many weekly poker nights with his Poker Boys and sneaking in extra ice cream, with sprinkles, whenever possible.

He was a fun-loving and big-hearted man, deeply cherished by his family and friends. Roger is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Fitzpatrick), son Edward (Kelly), and daughter Maureen. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, John Lazarich, Katie, Jessica Keane (Ryan), Kevin Jarzabkowski (Shannon), and Paige Jarzabkowski, as well as his great-grandchildren, Walter, Winifred, Marigold, Gilbert Keane, and Blake Jarzabkowski.

Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Sowinski, and sister, Eileen.

I was so lucky to have known Roger and his family. I met him because my late wife, Dona, and Kate became good friends after meeting at a vendors convention in Chicago. I got to enjoy his dry humor and large heart at many dinners, family occasions, police dinners and let´s not forget a poker game or two. Thanks for many great memories!

We have known Rog since 1973! We shared lots of fun & laughter. Have great memories. Rog & Jim had that CPD bond. We loved being together for the Beverly Breast Cancer Walks on every Mother´s Day. We are happy we were able to visit in Vegas. Rog always had a great story & a way to make us all laugh & be better people! Our kids will not forget when Rog never changed out of his slippers to go to a Mexican restaurant! So much time has gone by, but Rog has made a special place in all of our hearts. Peace, Our Forever Friend, we love you more. Leslie,Jim, & Family.

I first met Roger when I was 17 as a waitress at a restaurant in the district where he worked I believe most of his life I later came back and bought that restaurant and he then became regular customer and a true friend. Every time I've gone to Vegas since they moved, I visited them. He was a sweet guy big heart.
