RONALD Clarke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 26, 2022.
Ronald (Ronnie) E. Clarke, born on April 27, 1963 in Leonardtown, MD passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2022 in California, Maryland. He was the son of Billy Jo Clarke and Ronald Paul Clarke (both deceased). He is proceeded in death by his grandparents. He leaves behind a brother Ronald Paul Clarke, Jr of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, a sister, Robin Renee Clarke-Deibler of Virginia Beach, VA, a neice, Tara Lynn Dietz (Deibler), Step-mother, Faye Clarke of St. Mary's County, MD, Step-sister, Donna Clarke Connell of Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Ronnie graduated from Great Mills High School located in St. Mary's County in 1982. His business, R&W Powerwashing, was his pleasure even though it was a lot of hard work and quite demanding. Ronnie built a strong clientel and a strong reputation of getting the work done right but if his work was not satisfied, he would re-do it without any extra charge.

Ronnie was a wonderful friend and had a big heart and a strong loving spirit. Those whom were close to him and loved him could say that he always greeted you with a smile, a hug and a good kindhearted slap on the shoulder as he was always happy to see his friends and loved ones. He loved living in St. Mary's County and loved being around the water or on a golf course. If he was traveling off somewhere, you can be assured it was near a beach where he enjoyed the sand under his feet or between his toes. If he couldn't find a beach, he would surely find a golf course to go hit balls around. His love of fishing and golf often found him involved in tournaments whenever possible. Some of the places he enjoyed was golfing at Brenton Bay, or somewhere out on the Bay with a rod in his hand and a beer in the other.

On hot summer days, he wouldn't hesitate to grab a buddy or two and hit the water in a boat to get in some ski time. Being on the water brought the best out in him. It calmed and relaxed him. He said so many times how soothing the water made him feel.

As a young boy, he and his close friends were always finding some sort of mischief they could get into. His father, who was Sheriff at the time in St. Mary's County, MD, was never taken back when he would get a call that he had done something or another, but it was never bad. Just your normal stuff young boys do and as years went on, he and his dad would often look back and laugh about it.

As he got older, he took to the local sports activities playing ball. He played for several teams in his youth, and as he grew older, Ronnie became part of GMHS Hornets Football team. While playing football he was one that brought a lot of attention to the girls swooning over him. Ronnie was a very handsome guy. But, that was Ronnie, a big flirt having a chester-cat grin and big blue eyes. We would all laugh in good fun and have a great time.

On Tuesdays and Saturdays, he could typically be located at the local roller rinks either at GMHS, or at the one on RT-235, across from Esperanza lanes. On Friday's, when there wasn't a football game, the local drive-in was a gathering area. Those were the good Ole days.

In his older years after high school, Ronnie could be found at Nokleby's, The Nite Life, or Club Rio dancing away and sometimes you couldn't get him off the dance floor. He found pleasure in having a good time with all his friends. But, he also knew and understood that hard work was a must if you were ever to achieve anything in life.

Ronnie's sudden passing is one of great sadness and a tremendous loss to all those whom loved and cared for him. His spirit will forever continue and live on in our hearts. This world is lost without his laughter, smile and sunshine he brought to everyone around him. His family and friends have been dealt a hard blow by his passing. Ronnie is now at peace. He may be gone physically, but spiritually, he will forever be by our sides and within our hearts. Let us believe that sometimes you might feel his presence around you. He is telling you he is okay. Always remember him with his warm smile and his arm drapped over your shoulder.

There will be a celebration of life gathering in St. Mary's County planned by his sister, Robin at a later date.

Much condolences to Ronnie's family. "One of kind" is certainly a good description of Ronnie. Remember my first day at GMHS, Ronnie walked up to me and said; "If anyone messes with you, let know, I'll kick there butt". Remember walking into the Night Life for the first time, Ronnie came up to me and said; "If anyone messes with you, let know, I'll kick their butt". Rest in piece old friend.

I enjoyed four years with Ronnie at GMHS. He was always the big, fun, goofy one. Then I would run into on the dance floor enjoying life to the fullest. I always enjoyed running into him in the county throughout the years. His smile never stopped. I was shocked to hear of his passing. I was blessed to run into him briefly a few few months back. My heart goes out to the family at this time.

I'll never forget the first time I met Ronnie. We were at Esperanza Middle School. I was in 7th grade, Ronnie was in 6th. He had stopped me at my locker, said "Hey" with that grin.. "can I ask you a question" I said "Sure" he looked at me with that smile and said " Would you be my girlfriend" looking at him, I frowned said "Sorry, I already have a boyfriend" He just looked at me with those blue eyes , said its OK.. then he smiled , said " If you ever change your mind, my names Ronnie" then he strolled of still grinning.
We laughed about it years later, and just a few months ago. Ronnie was a charmer, guy with a big heart and a beautiful smile. Always happy to see you. Never an unkind word I heard from him. Always positive and up beat. He knew I was out driving the interstates, so we always had long conversations over the phone. He kept me company on those Ling drives across the country. Talking for hours.
Over the course of this past year, Ronnie has been in a great deal of pain with an illness within his legs, making it unbearable at times for him to walk, much less work. He suffered a lot. I am at peace, even though I have lost a very treasured friend, knowing his suffering is no more. In my heart, I'll see him again when my time is called. Because, I know that the moment I reach that place, he will be right there waiting, asking what my hold up was.
My deepest condolences to the entire Clarke family. Ronnie was one of a kind. But, I know he's always with me, keeping me safe and at peace until we meet again.

From birth to death, you might know a few people in life who just bring pure joy. Ronnie was that for me. I´ve known him since the first day of 9th grade when he sat directly in front of me. Every single time I would run into him out in town he would have a big smile and hug for me. I always said goodbye with a warm feeling cuz I had run into him. I am so sad that he is gone. I will miss that beautiful smile. RIP my friend
