Ronnie Hanks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 5, 2024.
Ronnie Lee Hanks, 77, of Bartlett, TN, passed away on February 4, 2024. Born on October 27, 1946, in Memphis, TN, Ronnie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Ronnie was known for his kind and generous nature, his sense of humor, and his outgoing and friendly personality. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was loved by all who knew him.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Linda, his daughter Tracy and son-in-law Mike Dement, his granddaughter Dylan, his grandson Dane, his brother Gerald Hanks, many nieces and nephews, and great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Melba Hanks, and his sister Lyberta Hanks.

After graduating from Frayser High School in the class of 1964, Ronnie served in the Air Force for four years, where he honed his skills and developed a strong sense of discipline and dedication.

Following his military service, Ronnie pursued a career as an air traffic controller, dedicating 12 years to ensuring the safety and efficiency of air travel. He later retired from the State of Tennessee in 2009, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and commitment.

In his free time, Ronnie enjoyed fishing, gardening, and wood working. He was a jack of all trades and a master of none, always eager to learn and try new things. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his wife and family at Panama City Beach, FL, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.

A celebration of Ronnie's life will be held at Tracy and Mike Dement's house in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the West Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society, organizations close to Ronnie's heart.

Ronnie Lee Hanks will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.

I will always remember Ronnie at the cheerleading competitions. He was just so proud of Tracy and my daughter Tiffany. He would always play with my son Tyler and once helped him build a wooden trinket box in his garage. When I spoke with my son last night, his memory of Ronnie was also that little trinket box. My children are both grown adults now as well but it is amazing how the kindness of adults will stay in their memories a lifetime. We love you forever Mr. Ronnie. I know CoCo was happy to see you too
