Rosie I. Marquardt, age 92 of Tigerton passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at her granddaughter’s home in the Town of Germania, Shawano County.
The former Rosie Irene Lutzewitz was born on October 24, 1930, in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, to Fred and Marie (Wudstrack) Lutzewitz. She was united in marriage on February 2, 1952, to Marcus Marquardt at St. John Lutheran Church, Marion. Rosie worked side-by-side with her husband on the farm for many years. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1989.
Rosie was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church, Split Rock. She was a busy lady, from helping on the farm, to cooking for 15-20 guys during the haying season. She enjoyed fishing on the river, shining for deer, making quilts, sewing, and scrapbooking. Rosie loved polka music, working in her flower garden, and feeding the birds. She would even take the tomato seeds out and use them the following year. Fishing at Wallace Park with Marcy, going to rummage sales, and her monthly Birthday Club with the ladies in Tigerton were a few more of her favorites.
Survivors include four children: Fred (Sandy) Marquardt, Marcilene (Bill) Fournier, Marcus (Christine) Marquardt, and Steven (Priscilla) Marquardt. There are 9 grandchildren: Michelle (Chris) McInnis, Matthew (Sue) Marquardt, Peter Fournier, Paul Fournier, Justin (Katie) Marquardt, Barry (Melissa) Marquardt, Tracy (fiancé Chad Parsons) Quinn, Brian (Taylor) Marquardt, and Rachel (Matt) Marquardt. There are 21 great grandchildren: Gavin McInnis, Jacob Marquardt, Trevin Marquardt, Nevaeh Quinn, Madison Marquardt, Bethany Marquardt, Claire Marquardt, Lucia Marquardt, Simon Marquardt, Maria Marquardt, JJ Marquardt, Leo Marquardt, Reese Marquardt, Will Marquardt, Harper Marquardt, Valerie Marquardt, Lucas Marquardt, Rebekah Pockat, Kendal Pockat, Isabella Pockat, and Natalie Pockat. There are 3 step grandchildren: Michael (Jenn) Bowden, Tom (Jill) Bowden, and Ricky Bowden. She is further survived by several step great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marcus; and two brothers Roy and Ruben Lutzewitz.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Split Rock. Chaplain Mark Lewis will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
