Roy Talbert Rogers, Jr. died on Friday, December 18, 2015, at age 79 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. He was born in Houston on Mother's Day, May 10, 1936 at Herman Hospital to Roy T. Rogers Sr. and Rhea Gaylor Rogers. He graduated from Austin High School Cum laude in 1954, and graduated with a Bachelor's from Rice Institute, Houston in 1958 and from the University of Houston, Law School in 1961. He served on active duty in the U. S. Army, Judge Advocate General's Corps in 1962 and 1963, stationed in Columbus, Ohio, at Headquarters XX U. S. Army Corps, and the U. S. Army Reserve in Houston, receiving Honorable Discharge in 1969 with the rank of Captain. He represented two different commercial banks in Houston and the Federal Farm credit Bank during the 1970s, and was in private practice of law in Houston until the day of his death. He was a faithful participant in continuing legal Education programs in the state of Texas for his entire career, and was a member of the bar of the U. S. Supreme Court and the U. S. Court of Military Appeals. In 1986, he ran as a candidate for judge in the Harris County Criminal Courts. He was a firearms enthusiast all of his life and strongly believed in the right to bear arms. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Houston. Roy T. Rogers, Jr. is survived by his three children, Roy Wayne Rogers, Cynthia Anne Rogers, and Willard Gaylor Rogers, and his grandchildren, Kyle, Krista, and Kraig. He also had three great-grandchildren, Kade, Aden, and Tyler.

Stepdad, thank you for being my teacher and guide. I always enjoyed our conversations and will miss them, but most of all I will miss the happiness in your voice when I'd phone as you greeted me with the pet name that has stayed with me to this day and always will.
