ROZANNE COKINIS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 4 to Mar. 5, 2016.
WHEATON - Rozanne Loretta Cokinis (nee Knippen), 73, a lifetime resident of the Wheaton area, passed away on March 3, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry "Skip" Cokinis. She is survived by her children, Lisa (Don) Andes, Julie (Ron) Prueter, Doug (Karen), and Mike. One of the greatest joys of Rozanne's life was being the adored grandmother of Lexi Chase, Joshua Prueter, Meghan and Nicole Andes, and Elle and Karina Cokinis. Born in Wheaton on February 6, 1943, to Wilfred "Jim" and Velma Knippen, she attended St. Michael's School in Wheaton, and later graduated from Wheaton Community High School in 1961. On May 25, 1963 she married her high school sweetheart, Skip Cokinis. They lived and raised their children in Wheaton, until the time of Skip's death in 1994. For 50 plus years, Rozanne was a hairstylist at various salons in the area. She truly loved the people she worked with, and many of her clients became dearly loved friends. Everyone who knew her was attracted to her contagious laugh and her bright smile. She had a heart of gold and a positive attitude until the very end. She fought a valiant battle against cancer and other complications The family is sincerely grateful for all the wonderful caregivers that helped to take care of Rozanne over the past months. Also to Ed Doughty, whose friendship over the years was a real treasure to her. A celebration of Rozanne's life will be held from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton. Funeral info 630-668-0016.

Rozanne had a smile that could light up a room.I can remember a few years going to a local nursing home to visit a friend and I decided to stop into the beauty salon where Rozanne worked her magic for many of the ladies who were living there. When I got close to the door of the salon, I heard music, singing and loud laughter and watched in disbelief as Rozanne and one of her clients were dancing to the music while other patrons clapped and sang. Everyone was having a ball especially Rozanne. She loved to make others happy. To her children and grandchildren I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved mom and grandmother. Rozanne will be missed by all that knew her. Love, Karen Sprowls Sampras (cousin).
