Rudolph Macri Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 26 to Mar. 30, 2019.
Rudolph Dominic Macri, 88
Army MP and beloved family man, held leadership posts in civic and service organizations, 'spread joy and positivity everywhere'
R. Dom Macri, 88, of Dongan Hills, Staten Island, N.Y., passed away suddenly on March 25, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Macri (nee Lacci). They were married for 50 years. He was the loving father of Diana Antonaros, Dina Marino, and Daniel Macri; and beloved father-in-law to Joseph, Carolyn, and Anthony. Nothing made Dom happier than spending time with his four grandchildren, Daniel Macri, Renata Macri, Antonio Antonaros, and Marianna Marino.
Dom was the son of Giovanni and Marianna Macri. His uncle Nick Catalano was also an important part of his upbringing. He was the brother of the late Guarino (Gene) Macri and Josephine (Dolly) Karas, and is survived by his youngest brother, Ernest (Chris) Macri.
He graduated from John Jay High School in 1948. He was a corporal in the US Army from 1951-1953. He was stationed in Panama during the Korean War and was a Military Policeman.
Above all, Dom loved spending time with his family and friends. His other leisure activities included traveling the world with the "love of his life," trips to Atlantic City, bowling, watching vintage movies, and writing song lyrics.
Dom loved helping people in his profession as an Independent Insurance/Financial Planner. He was founder and past president (1969-1995) of Total Estate Programs (TEP) and continued to serve as a consultant to TEP through 2005.
Dom was an extremely active member of the community, giving his time to the following organizations: charter member (1972) 1st Toastmasters International Chapter of Staten Island; past financial advisor - Parents Without Partners; past president - Italian Club of Staten Island (1973-1974); lifetime member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Club of Staten Island Foundation, Inc. (member since 1965), current club historian (since 1998), and fundraising chairman (since 1999).
Additionally, he was past treasurer and executive committee member of the Democratic County Committee of Richmond County, past treasurer of the Staten Island Leukemia Association, past member of International Association of Financial Planners (IAFP), and emeritus member of the National Association of Life Underwriters (member since 1960).
Dom spread joy and positivity everywhere he went. He will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held at Hanley Funeral Home on Thursday, March 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be said on Friday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Catholic burial will take place in Moravian Cemetery.

The loss of a love one is difficult. May the precious memories you have help you cope and bring you peace. 1 Thes. 4:14 can bring you some comfort knowing that there is a future for the ones we have lost in death can be reassuring. May the God of peace be with you and your family

It's very hard to put into words anything that would do justice to such a giant of a man who was so generous and kind and big-hearted!
Bear-hugs because shaking hands just wasn't good enough was the norm.
He was involved with every aspect of his community but always made time for a friend and was obviously the quintessential family man doting on his children & grandchildren.
My sincerest condolences to the whole family My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
He leaves behind a giant void and he will be sorely missed by so many.

I will always remember the big smile followed by the bear hugs he used to give. Never did I think of him as just a family friend but more like a caring uncle. Diana, Dina, and Danny....you are in my prayers. He will be greatly missed!!!
Love always,
Judy Mazza
Rest in peace...
