Sandra Helm Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 29, 2017 to Jan. 1, 2018.
1950 ~ 2017
Sandra Larsen Helm of Salt Lake City UT graduated from this life and moved on to her next adventure after a valiant and quick battle with ALS on December 24, 2017. Born March 29, 1950 she told everyone she was delivered by the Relief Society (as were all babies then) to her anxiously waiting parents, Thomas Calvin and Ella Adams Larsen of Pleasant Grove. She loved growing up in PG and has many fond memories of good times there. Graduated PGHS, attended Dixie College, and married Glenn Wilkerson of Duchesne. They have a beautiful blonde haired daughter, Nichole. Sandy spent many years living and working in "The Basin" and has fond memories and many cherished friends there. She moved back to the "Big City" where she loved working at the Wagonmaster, SLCC, and lastly after retiring from the State and finding she missed working, at the Utah Press. She loves and treasures the people there. She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Earl Helm; daughter, Nichole; step children, Colleen May Cook (Roger), Shaun May (Jeanne), Melody May Mitchell, Megan Helm; Mother, Barbara Larsen; siblings, Thomas Craig Larsen, Susan Larsen-Maxwell, Paul M. Larsen (Patricia) and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and well over her listed 413 friends. She had a joyous reunion in Heaven on Christmas Eve greeted by her father, Thomas Calvin Larsen; mother, Ella Adams Larsen, Sister, Ruthann Larsen, and many other cherished loved ones. Funeral service to be held Saturday, January 6th at Noon with a family greeting time from 10:30 am - 11:30 am at the Grove Creek 4th Ward Chapel at 942 N 500 East, Pleasant Grove Utah. In lieu of flowers, Sandy suggests a donation to your local food bank.

So sorry to lose Sandy, she was certainly one of a kind!! Both my mom, Marilyn and my husband, Mike thought so much of her. Loved being friends on facebook with her and felt such a kindred spirit in our love for animals. No wonder Mom and her got along so well! I'm sure Mom and Mike will be part of a great welcoming committee, along with others who love her so much on the other side!! My heart goes out to all of you!

Sincere condolences to the family, I've never met Earl in person but feel like I know him. You sir, were just what Sandy looked for for many decades. I'm so glad that you found each other.

I remember Sandy as "Cow" from our days growing up in PG. We always had a mostly friendly rivalry. She and my wife suffered from, but beat breast cancer. One of my favorite memories is a story she told about serving in Wagon Master and having John Stockton come in as a guest. She worshiped the ground that Stock walked on and was terrified to serve him. As I heard it, her coworkers forced her to introduce herself and she found him a true gentleman who took time to say hello.

She was one of my most favorite people in my life. I miss her very much.
