I'm deeply saddened to hear of Sandy's passing, my condolences to her family and friends. Sandy taught me in high school but I first knew her at Willow Grove, where I went as a kid. I have a distinct memory of talking with Sandy in the aftermath of 9/11 (I was 10 years old but she talked with me like any adult), and Sandy was the first person in whom I encountered empathy for the many innocent Arabs and Muslims who were also suffering at the time. She explained that we Christians and Muslims believe in the same God, and that most Muslims found terrorism as abhorrent as Americans or anyone else. Her empathy, kindness, and nuanced view of world are a beautiful legacy - may it ripple in eternity.

I remember driving you when you coach volleyball and seeing you in the hallways of the high school.

I actually knew Sandy in High School but I knew her best as an advisor to the Student Leadership Conference at Scotch Plains Fanwood HS. We worked together for many years. She was devoted to the students and provided leadership and life lessons to many students over a period of many years. She meant so much to the students and set an incredible example to them all.

sandy led a rich life and enriched the lives of many others despite her struggles with MS. It was a pleasure to meet her and see her shared Kling musical talent. May memories of her fill the hearts of those who knew her.
