Sandra Price Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 19, 2008.
Sandra Jeanne Stone
Otterstrom Price
Sandra returned to live with our Heavenly Father and many others waiting for her on June 16, 2008.
Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Missionary were many titles she wore, but she was best known as My Love, Mom, Nana, Sister Otterstrom and Sister Price.
She was born August 15, 1943 in Glendale, California to Ira Corbett Stone Jr. and Margaret Irene Loutensock. She was raised in the San Jose, California area and graduated from Campbell High. She attended Brigham Young University where BYU blood ran through her veins.
As a youth she loved water-skiing and camping. She met the first love of her life at Huntington Beach. She married Frank Thomas Otterstrom on his birthday, December 27, 1962 in the St. George LDS Temple. They had four children, Rick (Susan) of Blackfoot, Idaho; Tom (Lorie) of Spanish Fork; Ron (Gina) also of Spanish Fork; and Robert, who died as an infant and has waited for this day to be with his Mom.
They moved to Salem in 1970. On April 8th, 1977 she thought her world came to an end when she lost her true love, Tom. He was called home to Heaven at the young age of 38. She was left with 3 young mischievous boys to teach. On that stormy day, there was one cloud with a very silver lining. When she had questions with the insurance, a wise bishop introduced her to a friend of Tom's that was the district manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Albert Thomas Price had lost his wife a few years earlier and the boys loved his English accent and his double driveway at his home on the pond that was perfect for riding skateboards in. Mom soon purchased her own skateboard as well as surprising the boys with a canoe. She would watch the boy's row around Salem Pond, but we think she was watching Bert pruning his hedge.
God carries us through our hard times, usually on the backs of others. The boys fell in love with him and so did Mom. She found a second true love, which is very rare in this world. After a unanimous decision, Albert and Sandra were married October 15, 1977. Sandra inherited another son, Mike (Sunny) Price of Ogden, and a daughter, Chris (Brent) Wade of American Fork.
Mom served in several callings in the church. Her favorites were Young Women's and Girls Camp. She has had a very positive influence on many young women over the years. She stayed in touch with several. Mom learned from her dad how to play practical jokes and was better than most. She could do things with a Dutch-oven that many people only dream about.
Mom and Dad served 3 missions together. Two were to the England London South Mission and the third a service mission to the Canada Calgary Mission. She helped set up one of the first Girls Camps in England. They often talked of the joys of their missions. They loved the people and missionaries that crossed their paths.
Mom and Dad moved to Manti with a dream of opening a Bed & Breakfast. They ran Legacy Inn for a few years before they started having some health problems. They have lived in Payson for the past 7 years.
Bert and SanDee have 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, son Bobby, and her sister Pat. Besides her children and grandchildren, she is survived by husband Bert, her parents, Ira and Margaret Stone (St. George), her sister Denise & Jim McArthur (St. George), Rich Horsley (Evanston, WY), Chris & Bruce Jensen (Kaysville), Sue & Denny Williams (Simi Valley, CA), Marilyn & Gary Killpack (Layton) and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing in her honor Friday, June 20th from 6-8 pm at the Salem LDS chapel located at 60 South Main, Salem, Utah. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 21st in the same building. A private family viewing will begin at 9:30 am with services starting at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. ELMER!!! Online condolences may be given at www.serenicare.com
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the LDS Girls' Camp Koholowo through your local wards.
The family would like to thank the many medical staff at UVRMC, Mountain View Hospital, Central Utah Clinic and the many doctors and nurses who provided her with tender loving care.

I loved my dear sister-in-law. She was kind, talented, fun and wonderful. I miss her but know our parting isn't the end. Her three sons are a credit to her and Tom and Bert.

I am so sad to hear of Sandee's passing. I haven't been in touch with the family for some time now but we lived across the street from them in Salem for many years. I love Sandee and Bert, they were always so good to me and my children. They were wonderful neighbors. I learned so much from Sandee through the years, she is a delightful special daughter of God. May her family be comforted at this time by their many loving memories of her. I will always remember how happy she was and how good and kind she was to others.

SanDee started as my friend and then ended up being a very choice sister-in-law. She taught me so much by example and love. Even though her time with my brother was short, we were so happy for her when she met and married Bert. We love him so much also, and pray for him in his loneliness. The blending of the Otterstrom and Price families has been special and a blessing for both. My family and I will miss her so much, she was always so fun. I have many memories too numerous to write here, but I will send them to the boys. My memories of her go back to before they were born. Thanks Rick, Tom and Ron, Chris and Mike for letting us remain a part of your family and keeping us posted on the happenings in your family. We love you all, Chris and Bruce Jensen and family

SanDee and Albert lived next to us in Salem. How we learned to love them, and how we missed them when they moved away. We are sorry for your lost, but we are also sure that SanDee is bringing a bright, new ray of sunshine to Heaven. Love to you.

From the "Jolley" side of Uncle Joics's JolleyStone family: we join with you in celebrating the life of a great lady, as we do in mourning the loss of her to this world. We pray your faith will support you in your time of grief. And we pray that—as her grief was comforted when she lost her first husband by finding another—your grief will be comforted by your memory of her and your hope of being together again.

We have had the privilege of the Price's living in our ward for the past few years. We have been in their home for family home evening, we have weeded their flowers, given service to both of them and have felt their love. I met with Bro. Price Sunday morning for a brief moment. I asked him how his dear wife was and he said "Not so good, but she is a good wife and a good mother". What great love and respect he has for her. We hope and pray that you feel our love for you and your family at this time of loss.

When I recognized Sis. Price I felt I should share a memory. Bro. & Sis. Price were in the England, London South mission with me and we spent time together in Guernsey, one of the channel islands. Guernsey is where Bro. Price was born in Castle Cornet just off St. Peter's Port. And I remember him pointing out the castle during one of our P-Days. I remember how fun loving Sis. Price was and the way she cooked lamb was wonderful. Bro. & Sis. Price loved being missionaries and I'm just a bit jealous that they got to serve two missions in the wonderful ELSM.

It is so hard for me to hear that Sandy has died. She was the most influential teacher I had as a youth. There are so many memories of her. And not just as a youth. When I went to Snow College I took my family home evening group to her home. She made a pumpkin dessert. That was the first time I actually liked something made with pumpkin. Then there was the day that I went to the Manti Temple to receive my endowment before going on my mission. We stayed at the Price's Bed and Breakfast. They didn't even charge us for the room. It was their way of supporting my mission. I sat up talking to Sandy for a long time. She gave me advice on what it would be like going to the temple for the first time. I love Sandy so much. She always seemed older to me, but I guess it is just because she was so wise. I will miss her terribly.

Dear Family,
Aunt SanDee was a wonderful and loving person. I have many fond memories of her. I always loved going to visit she and Bert and visiting with them. They always were such Christ-like examples to me, and I admired them so much. I know you are very proud of the amazing life she lived. We can only follow by her example. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I will be thinking of you. I love all of you very much.

Everyone loves SanDee, your sweet Mom. It's fun to think of the grand reunion she must be having this week with so many she loved who have gone before. We are so sorry we couldn't make it to the viewing or funeral, but our hearts and love are with all of you.
