I lived in Gainesville, Florida in the mid 1980s while I attended the University of Florida. The Schank family was my home away from home. Sandra and Stan and Linda were wonderful friends. Sandra invited me to wonderful Thanksgiving dinners and one time she helped me sew a skirt. I have fond memories of spending time in her home. She was always so kind and gracious.
My condolences to the entire Schank family.

Sandra and her family were our neighbors for many years in Gainesville, Florida. Sandra was the first neighbor I met in our neighborhood. Sandra had the sweetest smile of anyone I had ever met. Her family invited our oldest son to participate in the sports activities of her family´s church. Sandra´s family was a central part of our children´s young years. She was a blessing in all regards. Sandra is a wonderful mother in law. She spent two weeks with our family each time a baby was born, and gave them all their first bath at home. Whenever we were together she always offered to bathe kids. I try to do that for my kids too, because I remember well what a HUGE favor that was! She is so very loved!!!

I remember Sandra telling me about making childrens' clothes for the local fabric store display. After they were displayed for a set amount of time she could take them home for her own kids to wear, free of charge since the store provided the fabrics for the display and she got to choose them.
