Scott May

Scott G. May, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and son, on July 8, 2025, in Austin, Texas.

Born on October 20, 1960, Scott brought boundless energy, creativity, and warmth to every chapter of his life.

A lifelong and passionate drummer, Scott began playing at the age of 11 and never stopped sharing his talent. He performed with numerous bands across Upstate New York and Texas, including Light Years, Horkin's the Torque, and The Lucky Dharma Band. Whether behind a drum kit or laughing with friends, Scott's expressive nature and joyful spirit lit up every room he entered.

Scott was a devoted Boy Scout dad who proudly supported his son in achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He co-founded Blue Planet Pest Control with his wife, Lihuei Huang, in Austin. His deep connection with clients-and his commitment to friendly, thoughtful service-left a lasting impression on the community he served.

He embraced life with curiosity and joy. Scott found happiness in music, hiking, biking, camping, crafting, gardening, and collecting rocks-always eager to explore the beauty and wonder of the world around him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lihuei Huang; his children, Zachary May of Austin, TX, and Misty May of Richmond, TX; his grandson, Taylor Soto, also of Richmond; and his siblings, Marybeth (Tim) Fiala and Bruce (Stephanie) May, both of Horseheads, NY. He is also remembered with love by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, James R. May and Gloria May, and his sister, LuAnn Wells.

Scott's cheerful wit, boundless generosity, and musical soul left a deep impression on everyone who knew him. He will be remembered with great love and profoundly missed. May his memory continue to inspire joy, kindness, and creativity in all who carry it forward.
