To Shane's Family and friends....I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of a fellow classmate at MDHS. I will remember Shane for his quick wit and kindness. It is unfortunate that I didn't know him better and I feel sorry and I know I am at a lost for not doing so. Rest in Peace Shane! I hope Shane's family will take with them all the wonderful memories and cherish him forever.

I was very saddened to hear of Shane's untimely passing. He was my very first director when I initially joined the Federal Public Service with Industry Canada in June 2000. Shane was one of the finest individuals I ever had the pleasure of working with and was a dear friend and mentor. He will be sadly missed but forever remembered. To his family I extend my deepest sympathies and prayerful thoughts at this difficult time.

Dear Karine and Family- we met Shane and your two dogs Freya and Libby at the Lansdowne Dog Park. We were always so happy to see Shane pull up in his car and unload the dogs because they were such good company for our dog Lenny. Over time, we got to know Shane in his soccer way when he entertained Lenny with his fancy foot work.
Out thoughts are with you all during this sad and difficult time.

Dear Karin, Jake, Mira and Riley,
We are so sorry about your loss. Shane was our first neighbour that we met on Windsor Avenue and we were delighted to be welcomed to Ottawa by such a lovely fellow who immediately recruited some new softball players ( us ) to play with his team. I still do a double take when I see someone roughly his age on a bike on Bank street. Generous, honest, and genuine is how we would describe him. He will be missed. He is so lucky to have had such a beautiful family and set of friends around him. Our thoughts are with you.

Hearing of Shane's departure was such a shock. I last saw him last fall and although he had clearly struggled over the past few years, a shining spirit glowed through it all. As my first Director General at Industry Canada, I will forever remember Shane's witty sense of humour, his genuine curiosity about ideas and people, his ability to laugh at the silliness that only a workplace can provide, and his integrity. Shane, you will be deeply missed.

Karin and family, we got to know Shane best rink side when Ciaran and Riley played on the same OCMHA team. To Shane's family, my deepest condolences. I was a friend and colleague of Shane's at Industry Canada close to 20 years ago, and kept tabs and distant contact over the years. The world is smiling a little bit less today. He will be missed by many.

Dear Karin and family,
We were very saddened to hear the tragic news. I remember well when I first met Shane standing outside of Hopewell at 3 in the morning in the freezing cold lining up for junior kindergarten. I will remember fondly the time I spent with Shane at the rink, on the soccer field or at our cottage. Our thoughts are with you,
