WEAVER
Shirley Ann Weaver, blessed and highly favored, was chosen by God to leave the burdens of this world behind and "dwell in the House of the Lord forever", on June 1, 2011 at the age of 71. Her hometown was Detroit, Michigan. She met the love of her life on a blind date while she was on a two week vacation to Corpus Christi. Living 1600 miles apart, they had a total of seven dates over the period of a year. They were married in Corpus Christi in 1960. Their marriage of almost 51 years has been a testimony of true love and devotion. The family moved to San Antonio in 1980. She worked and retired after 18 years, from Texas Insurance Agency. She fought and won a long feisty battle with Ovarian Cancer. Her death was the result of complications due to Ovarian Cancer. She was an active member and loved Summit Christian Church and volunteered in various other organizations. Her parents, a brother and two sisters preceded her in death. She was the sole remaining member of the Peterson family. She is survived by her ever beloved husband, Jimmy and their precious children, Kimberly and Kirk and three very special Grand-children, Kristen, Carin and Bud. No flowers please. Please make donations to Ovarian Cancer research to find a cure. She chose cremation and the ashes to be buried at Fort Sam. A service of celebration will be held at Summit Christian Center, 2575 Marshall Rd, San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, June 18th at 10:30 A.M.

Shirley was a very special person. She was an inspiration and truly "walked the walk" as long as I knew her over 40 years. May GOD continue to bless the Weaver family

I worked with Jim at Valero for many years. Met Shirley at one of the company functions. Kimberly was also a good friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Linda (Overley) Ryder.

I first met Shirley and Kimberly while I was doing my chemo a couple of months ago. We chatted about iPads and other things. My first impression of Shirley is that she was one of the loveliest women I've ever met, and also that she had such a grace about her. I was completely struck by that. She was so brave. I wish I had met her earlier because I'm certain I would have learned from her.
Kimberly, my heart goes out to you and your family. May God give you peace and strength throughout this sad and difficult time.
You are in my thought and prayers.
With love, Charlotte
