Shyann Johnson

Funeral services for Shyann Johnson, 16, of Portales, will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at the Church of God in Portales with Rev. Brenda McField officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Shannon Lee, John Kanmore, Corky Green, Rusty Criswell, Clint Varnell and Dusty Johnson serving as pallbearers. Mike Pharis, Mikey Pharis, Howard Miller, Corey Johnson, Josh Johnson, and Travis Johnson have been named as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive visitors at 728 W. 18th St. in Portales. Shyann Leigh Johnson was born July 6, 1993, in Clovis to the home of Renee and Shawn Johnson and died September 25, 2009, in Lubbock, TX. Shyann grew up in Clovis and Portales, and was a Sophomore at Portales High School at the time of her death. As a youngster she enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball. Shyann was an active participant in Little Wranglers in barrel racing, pole racing and goat tying. She was happiest when she could be with her sisters, or with her animals. Shyann was a member of the Faith Christian Family Church in Clovis.
She is survived by her parents, Renee and Shawn Johnson and two sisters, Shanna and Shania Johnson all of the family home; her grandparents, Gale Smith of Portales, Don and Lee Smith of Lubbock and Carol and Clyde Johnson of Farwell, TX; great-grandparents, Harvey Long of Roswell, and Jean White of Clovis; aunts and uncles, Jimmy Smith and wife of Dallas, TX, Cheryl and Brad Johnson of Portales, and Rodney Johnson of Farwell, TX; great aunts and uncles, Leann and Troy Johnson of Clovis, Glen Johnson of Stephenville, TX, Dian and Jim Clements of Roswell, Mary and Danny Clements of Garland, TX and Marlene and Art Long of Wolfforth, TX; as well as numerous cousins.
