Sidney Hall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2020.
Sidney Hall was born on September 1, 1934 in Birmingham, AL to James Frank & Robbie Hall. He was a member of St. James Baptist Church until he relocated. In 1952, he graduated from Parker High School, took a course as an orderly, then went to work at Hillman Jefferson Hospital where he met Loretta Hall. They fell in love, married on March 25, 1957 and to this union, was born three sons: Sydney, Darryl & Kasha. In 1957, Sidney joined the United States Air Force in Rome, GA, where he was able to succeed and grow into the man he was until his passing. He was not going to fall in line where they placed all men of color in the military (cooks etc.) He fought for the right to attend electronics school. He tested with high scores and received training at Lackland AFB TX and Scott AFB Il. He attended Aircraft Radio Maintenance School and was issued his first assignment at Shaw AFB, SC where his wife joined him. Loretta traveled with him most places where he was stationed. He was given many awards for his service. His last assignment was at Andrews Air Force near Washington, DC where he marched in the parade for President Johnson's (LBJ) inauguration on Pennsylvania Avenue. In 1967, he was discharged from USAF due to illness. With the blessings of God, he was hired by United Airlines as a Radio/Navigation Technician. They sent him to San Francisco where he retired after 30 years of service. Sidney passed away at the Palo Alto VA Hospital where they marched his body in great honor and style. He leaves to mourn his wife, Loretta of 63 years; his sons and companions: Sydney Jay, Darryl (Stephanie), & Kasha A. (Shannon); grandchildren: Terrence, Borel, Nina, Strong, Samantha & Sydona; and great-grandson Michal.
