Simone Simowitz Kortick

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Simone Simowitz Kortick, beloved wife of Maurice Kortick, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2003, at University Hospital. In addition to her husband, she survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Dr. Sidney Stein and a son, Alan Kortick; four grandchildren, Kallie Brown and Gabreilla Stein and Harry and Joseph Kortick. She was the daughter of the late Rose and Harry Simowitz. Simone was a life long resident of Augusta, an avid Bridge player and a Silver Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League. She was a member of Adas Yeshurun Synagogue, Adas Yeshurun Sisterhood, Augusta Jewish Community Center and a life member of Hadassah. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Magnolia Cemetery with Rabbi Zalman Fischer and Rev. Alan Faulkner officiating. Active pallbearers will be Harris Fogel, Mark Weinberger, Jay Weinberger, Walter Isenberg, Dov Estroff, Jeremy Estroff, Jordan Estroff and Steve Greenberg. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Simon, Jon Simowitz, Gene Weinberger, Steve Brown, Davis Abrams and Edwin Johnson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904 or to Adas Yeshurun Synagogue, 935 Johns Road, Augusta, GA 30904 or to the charity of ones choice.
