My sincere condolences to the family. I was just planning to call Stanley (we talked last year) and found out about his passing in January. I don't want us to lose the connect that the Alpert/Berliner family had to Stanley and the Wintrob family (his grandparents) of Pittsburgh. My grandmother was a relative of his grandfather yet she was very close to his grandmother, Ava (Vishka) Wintrob. Our family vacations were rare but when we traveled, it was always to Pittsburgh to see our distant, but close and warm cousins. After Stanley's father died, he came that summer to live with my grandparents in Westhampton Beach, NY. These were Martin H. Alpert and Lena Berliner Alpert. He knew my grandfather better than I did, since Martin died in 1953 when I was very young. I don't want to take too much space, but just want to say (1) we loved Stanley and he was particularly close to my father, Ted Alpert and (2) I don't want to lose contact with the Makoroff family. I have their branch in my family tree and I can perhaps answer some questions you may have. Please be in touch: [email protected] . Again, on behalf of the Alpert/Berliner family, our deepest sympathy on the loss of such a wonderful man. ---Eugene Alpert, Arlington, VA

Dear Barb and Kathi, You have my deepest sympathy on the passing of your loving father. He was a good friend of my late husband, Tom Magill. We shared many good times in Scottsdale, We kept in touch by phone after Tom moved back here. I just talked to Wayne and learned of his passing. I would have tried to get to Pittsburgh if I had known. He loved sharing about trips with you and the grandchildren. You have many wonderful memories in your heart of him. Hold those close. Blessings, Judy
