Stefani Hurt

Stefani Lynette Hurt, of Fredericksburg, VA, received her heavenly wings on March 1, 2023. Stefani (Stef) was born December 13, 1990, in Bitburg, Germany to Cherry L. Wilcoxon and Charlie D. Hurt. Stefani came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior early in life, and was a long time member of First Mount Zion Church in Dumfries, VA. 

Stefani graduated from Colonial Forge High School in Fredericksburg, VA and completed college courses at NOVA Community College along with several accomplished certifications. She was employed as a Financial Analyst at the Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency, Quantico, VA. Stef was an all-around happy, energetic, and optimistically positive human being who loved life, and enjoyed seeing other people happy! She absolutely lit up a room with her smile and enthusiastic and positive energy! Her children, C.J. and Adriana, were the most important persons in her life, and were at the center of her universe! No matter what troubles were in Stef’s midst, her love for C.J. and Adriana always brightened her day, and returned the smile to her face. 

Stefani had a truly special relationships with her big brother, Juandero (Juan), her mother, Cherry; father, Charlie; stepfather, Kevin; aunt Dallias; and grandmother, Louise. Stef and her brother were like twin spirits. She relied on him for advice, and for words of encouragement when she was troubled. Stefani and her mother, Cherry, were more than mother and daughter – they were best friends. They frequently traveled together, solved problems together, and most of all, they laughed together! Stefani’s love of her father, Charlie, was known by all! One of Stef’s many fond memories with Charlie was their trip to the Million Black Women March in Philadelphia, PA at the age of six. Her father, Charlie and stepfather, Kevin (OPA) instilled in Stefani many important values for living a life filled with good moral values, which enabled Stef to grow as an empowered, principled young lady! And, aunt Dallias was indeed a second mother. Stefani spent many summers with her aunt in Detroit, Michigan, where she acquired a love for art, history and museums. Stefani developed many, many strong, loving, special relationships over the course of her beautiful life, including those with her God Parents, Wayne and Phyllis Andrews of Virginia Beach, VA. Each member of Stefani’s village continues to celebrate her beautiful, inspirational life! 

Our Stef is survived by her loving children, Jaron (C.J.) and Adriana (Nana) Hurt; her devoted mother, Cherry (Kevin Anderson) Wilcoxon of Fredericksburg, VA; her devoted father, Charlie D. Hurt of Athens, AL; loving grandparents, Louise C. Newsome of Brundidge, AL, and Frederick and Catherine Anderson of Woodbridge, VA; her brothers, Juandero (Tyrreia) Hurt of Phoenix, Arizona, Caleb Hurt of Gambrills, MD; and Alec E. Anderson of Triangle, VA; sisters, Cayla Hurt of Gambrills, MD; Nicole Johnson of Stafford, VA, and God sisters, DeAndria and Shante Shipman of Las Vegas, NV; Kelli (Cory) Sanders of Grovetown, GA; God brother Kiel King of Dallas, TX; aunts Dallias E. Wilcoxon (second mother) of Detroit, MI, Judy Thornton of Brundidge, AL, Toni (Reginald) Edge of Manassas, VA; uncles Grady (Laverne) Townsend, Author Hurt of Brundidge, AL, Mark (TaMika) Hurt of Troy, AL, and Troy (Melissa) Anderson of Stafford, VA, and Vincent (Angela) Anderson of Fredericksburg, VA;  Ricky (Arlisa) Johnson of Brundidge, AL and God Parents, Wayne and Phyllis Andrews of Virginia Beach, VA. Stef is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, four great-aunts and a host of cousins and friends, including Monique (John) Smiley, aunt Lora (Maurice) Bailey, and second God Mother, B.J. Roper.  

A funeral service will be held at A. L. Bennett Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Dr. Fredericksburg, VA, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 11:00 AM. The interment will be held at St. Paul Cemetery, 513 Galloway, Brundidge, AL.
