Stephen Leist Obituary
Stephen J. Leist, 69, of Marathon passed away at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his loving family at his bedside on January 28, 2017. He was born to Joseph and Erma (Huebsch) Leist on May 29, 1947.
Steve was a lifelong resident of his town of Marathon farm where along with his wife Diane and their children, he raised dairy cattle, hogs, ginseng, and many other crops as well as operated their family business, Memories Ballroom for the last 19 years. Steve enjoyed working in his shop and building and fixing things for the farm and helping his children with their various projects as well as helping his friends and neighbors. He always enjoyed stopping to chat with someone and his smile, laugh and good nature endeared him to everyone he met.
He is survived by the love of his life Diane (Dombrowski) Leist of 46 years, two daughters Linda (John) McPhee, Mary (Chad Pecher) Leist and one son Nick Leist, two grandchildren Bobby McPhee, Nicole (Chuck) Springer, five great grandchildren Zack and Chloe McPhee, Leihlah, Alainah, Lilyanah Springer, two sisters Yvonne (Tom) Creswell and Rosalyn (David) Jirgl as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church Marathon on Thursday, February 2, 2017 with Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30. Monsignor Joseph Diermeier will be officiating. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home is assisting family at this time. On line condolences can be made to www.HonorOne.com
