Stephen PESKOFF Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 30 to Oct. 31, 2010.
PESKOFF Stephen David Stephen David Peskoff passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the age of 68. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 25, 1942. Stephen was a dedicated husband, a loving father, and an ardent contributor to the Jewish community. He spearheaded several important initiatives including being a leader of the United Jewish Appeal and ORT. At one point, he was a member of all three synagogues in the Toledo area. Stephen relocated from Toledo in 1988, but remained an active philanthropist in the Toledo Jewish Community. Stephen was a highly successful businessman and sportsman. He was the national leader in sales several times for Northwestern Mutual in the 1970's. He was a well- respected real estate investment banker. Stephen developed the First City Center in Dallas as well as 545 Madison Avenue in New York City among numerous other projects. Besides his family and fervor for philanthropic projects around the world, Stephen's biggest passion was thoroughbred horse racing. Stephen raced and/or bred 2 eclipse award winners including the 1991 Horse of the Year Black Tie Affair. He also was a prominent shareholder in some of the most successful stallions in thoroughbred racing including Mr. Prospector, Nijinsky II, and Alydar. Stephen will be remembered for not only his accomplishments mentioned above, but also as a kind soul who fought for the underprivileged and disadvantaged. He arranged scholarships for minority causes outside of the Jewish Community and devoted a substantial amount of time serving on boards that were created to better the lives of others who were less fortunate. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a devoted husband and spectacular father who placed the importance of family above all else. Stephen is survived by his wife and the love of his life Karen, his sons Jeremy and Jonathan, their wives Susan and Marla, his adored granddaughter Halle, and numerous other friends who he would consider family throughout Toledo and the rest of the country. Donations can be made to the Toledo Jewish Community Foundation, 6465 Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, OH 43560. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Temple Shomer Emunim, 6453 West Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, OH. Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery, Oregon, OH. Arrangements by Robert H. I miss you cousin Stevie. Thank you for being a great relative and supporter. I appreciate you being one of the few people to believe that I would be successful through law school and passing the Bar Exam. I wish I could have gotten to see you before your passing. I am sure you touched many lives as you did mine. I hope you are resting peacefully in Heaven and I hope to see you again soon. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Love Always,

Justin R. Infurna, Esq.

Karen: Steve and I were class mates at U. of T. and got our MBA degrees together. After a short stint with the local ice hockey team, I followed him to Northwestern Mutual, and like him, I have branched out into other roles and businesses. He was a great inspiration for all around him, and I offer you and your family my deepest sympathies. Hopefully, God will continue to bless you and your family!
