Steve Romaniuk died peacefully and was welcomed into the arms of his heavenly Father on Monday evening, July 22 at the age of 90 years, having lived a full life. Steve was born and grew up in western Ukraine, lived through WWII in Germany, immigrated to Great Britain after the war, and eventually made his way to Canada in 1952. It was in Edmonton that he met and married his wife Eugenia and raised a family. Retirement included time in Ottawa and eventual settlement in Calgary. He was a man sustained by a quiet faith that aided him through difficult times in Europe, and exhibited a kind, gentle spirit that brightened the days of everyone around him all the days of his life, even to his last years as a resident of Spruce Lodge in Bridgeland. Steve is survived by his wife, Eugenia; his son, Walter; his daughter-in-law, Sylvie; and his grandchildren, Jacob, Max, Tom and Therese. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna, in Ukraine, and an infant son, Myron, in Edmonton. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 - 6 Street N.E.) on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be served at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 - 6 Street N.E.) on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church.
