Steve, I will miss your very witty humor and wild personality. I enjoyed our trips to the pawn shops here in San Antonio and in Portland in search of that elusive electronic part/item. All my love to you. Your friend, Pete

Oddly, my first recollections of Steve were at the Park City Snow School and in Colorado during the Wolf Creek Summit install... if memory serves me right. He later moved to Utah and then to Portland. Steve was indeed a unique and interesting fellow. I likened him to Mr. Gadget. Once you met Steve, you never forgot him. He will be missed in this world.

We have known and loved Steve throughout his troubled life beginning with his very premature birth and the early loss of his sweet mother. He lived with us, his uncle and aunt, for the following summer. His ability in childhood to take things apart and figure out how they work predicted his professional success. His many difficulties trying to find his place in personal relationships brought us sorrow, as did his failing health that led to his untimely passing. We will miss him.

Steve was a good uncle. My memories of him are warm, funny, and somewhat shrouded in mystery. He and I weren't all that close during the last 20 years. But he is still my uncle and therefore his loss represents a hole in my heart. Rest in peace, Uncle Steve. Thanks for the good memories.

Steve was one of a kind and will live on in my memory forever. He had a hard life but never failed to bring joy to those around him. It was a pleasure to work with Steve and an honor to call him a friend.
