Dear Sherry and Family
I am truly sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He was such a big part of our lives growing up. He worked at my dad's store and raced motorcross so I got a chance know him and his infectious smile and sparkling eyes. My prayers are with you and your family. May God give you strength in this very difficult time.

Dear Sherry, Derek & Kristopher,
I can't say thank you enough for sharing Steve with the Northland 300 and Special Olympics for the past 8 years. Steve was always a positive force and one that our snowmobilers loved for his enthusiasm. I also think of Steve's outstanding fundraising for Special Olympics through snowmobiling and know how it has helped the thousands of Minnesotans who have mental disabilities. Steve made life a better placee for them too.
Steve's life on Earth made a difference to so many and I am proud to have known him as a dear friend.

The loss of steven has left a large void in a lot of peoples lives.we will miss him forever. If not for Steven I would not know how to operate this computer. That's just a very small example of the effect he has had on my life since we met in
1970.
I know he is in a better place now and I hope to catch up with him someday.
We miss him already.

Dear Sherry and Family,
There isn't a better smile than Steve's, a better brain than Steve's and no one who could ride a motorcycle better than Steve. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Sherry and Family,
Although we cannot be with you, know that you are in our thoughts and prays. As we reflect on Steve’s life we are filled with many happy memories, the time spent playing hockey and broomball and, yes, the celebrations that seemed to follow every game. We are grateful for Steve and the friendship he offered, we remember fondly the time you all opened your home to us in Florida, many times we have talked about the crabs on the patio and scorpion stories we shared.
Know that we are thinking of you all as you go forward from here, with the knowledge of how blessed we all were to have the opportunity to call Steve our friend.
Love, Jim, Bernie, James and Michael Melby

Sherry & Family,
I met Steve several years ago at Freeman Park while he was coaching and I was umpiring. While I've met a lot of great dads and coaches during my 25 years in baseball, every once in a while you meet someone you'd like to get to know better. That was Steve. I looked forward to talking with him every chance I got just because of his enthusiasm and the way he treated the kids he was working with. He truly cared and enjoyed their company. We had a great day during the "field rebuild" at Freeman and had a chance to share several stories and laughed quite a bit. Please accept my condolences. My prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Steve on the Northland 300. He will be remembered for his high energy, and his zest for life. He always had a smile on his face, and was ready to help anybody at any given time. He was a good friend and will be truly missed.

Sherry & Family,
We both want to extend our sincerest sympathy to you at this very difficult time. We only knew Steve for a short time but enjoyed any time we were with him. He was a bright light to us that kept us going. We were so glad he was able to come to the Swap Meet this year so we were able to say, what many of us knew were, our final good-byes. We had the sense this was equally important to him. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you.
