Steven Joseph Phillips, 57, of Mountain View, California, passed away on September 27, 2023. He was born on November 14, 1965, in Kansas City, Kansas. Steven was a devoted husband to Melissa (Boyd) and a loving father to Samantha (19) and Maximillian (15). He is also survived by his father-in-law, Richard Boyd, his mother-in-law, Carolyn Boyd, his sister-in-law, Andrea (Gary) Steinle, and all of his nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Chris) Underwood, Kelsey (Jonathan) Cooper, Cody Goodwin, Alec Goodwin, Erik Goodwin, Skyler Phillips, Natasha Steinle and Jackson Steinle.

Steven had a deep sense of patriotism and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was trained at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey California and played a vital role during Desert Storm. After his military service, Steven embarked on a successful career at IDC in Mountain View, California, where he dedicated 28 years of his life. His contributions to the company were invaluable, and he will be remembered for his professionalism and work ethic.

Outside of his professional life, Steven was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He rarely missed a game and cheered passionately for his favorite hometown team. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he enjoyed sharing his love for the Chiefs with his family and friends.

Steven's educational journey began at St. Charles Borromeo in Kansas City, Missouri, for his primary schooling. He then attended St. Pius X High School, graduating in 1983.

Melissa, I only knew Steve from your Facebook posts. You could always see the love between the two of you and the love of Samantha and Max. Your time together was cut short and I wish I could tell you why. Our dream is to grow old with our bestfriend and enjoy grandkids some day. Turn to our Lord and He will help you through each day.

Your friend always,

I think one of my fondest memories of Steve was 4th of July in Truckee when our girls were maybe 10 or 11. I remember an evening down at the Donner Lake beach. We were playing cards and I remember enjoying Steve having fun joking around with his kids. It was the first time that I could see the wonderful connection he had with his family and friends. Then later all the fun pool parties at the Phillips with Steve flipping a burger or popping a brew. Good times! I am absolutely sure that Melissa, Samantha, and Max have many great memories that will live on forever. All who knew him surely agree that Steve Phillips was a good human, one of the best!

I have nothing but great things to say about Steve, he was always so fun to be around. We met the Phillips when Samantha was in kindergarten and we experienced K-12 together with our kids. We love the Phillips family, Steve was always so positive and upbeat, I never heard a cross word out of him. Thank you for your great service, this country needs more Steve Phillips. We will miss you Steve, and send our love and support to Melissa, Samantha and Max.

When we were together as a family I always enjoyed my conversations with Steve. His joy of life was infectious and I always knew he was smarter and wiser than I. I admired that about him. Peace

I have to confess, I'd never met Steve. I work at IDC and didn't know anything about him really, until he passed that is. Then my colleagues began sharing stories about what a wonderful person, friend and coworker he was. His kindness and invaluable contributions, in life and at IDC, were the things that really stood out most for me. I am thinking of his family (Melissa, Sam, and Max) at this unimaginable time and hoping that fond memories of Steve bring them peace in the difficult days to come. God bless you, Phillips family.

My thoughts and prayers are with Steve´s family. Steve and I went to high school together. He was a great guy who could make you laugh, even when you needed to be serious.(Like in class) Steve´s big smile will always be remembered. May he rest in peace.
