Sue Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2024.
Services for Sue Beaton Johnson, 86, of Lubbock, TX, will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, November 12th at the Abernathy Church of Christ with Mr. Steve Gauntt officiating. A burial ceremony will follow at the Abernathy cemetery. Sue Johnson passed away at the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Post, TX on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024. Sue was born on January 5th, 1938, to Delbert and Essie Beaton of Abernathy, TX. Sue graduated from Abernathy High School in 1956, and later attended Jessie Lee's Beauty School. She eventually started her own beauty shop in Abernathy serving many residents, and dear friends around the community. After retiring from hair dressing, Sue began working as a teacher's aide working with special needs children. Later after retiring from the Abernathy School District, Sue found her calling working with CASA, again working and helping children. Eventually Sue started working as an in-home elderly care giver. Sue was always a hard worker, devoted Mother, and Grandmother. She loved The Lord, was a member of the South Plains Church of Christ, was involved with the Silvertones group, and was an active participant in a group that sewed pillows for people who had been hospitalized. She was gifted with the ability to laugh in such a way that it was contagious to all around her. She loved being with her family and especially loved Christmas when her sisters, brothers-in-law, and their families would come to visit. Sue is preceded in death by her parents Delbert and Essie Beaton of Abernathy.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruthie Wheeler, husband Rick Wheeler of Denver, CO, and Beverly Bush, husband Oliver Bush of Cloud Croft, NM, two children, Roger Graham, wife Debbie Graham of Shallowater, and Rene Graham Davis, husband Rick Davis of Lubbock, four grandchildren, Garrett Graham, wife Cassie of Lubbock, and Karissa Ramos, husband J.C. of Lubbock, and Austin Davis, wife Audrey of Lubbock, and Erica Davis of Midland, and five great grandchildren.
