Published by Monteal Gazette on Feb. 3, 2016.
LOVASIK, Susan Elizabeth (Micak)
1950 - 2016
Susan Elizabeth Lovasik (Micak), beloved wife of 45 years of John, adored mother of Deanna (Nicolas Konczarek) and Laura (Edward Portet), and cherished "Baba" to Danika and Henri, drifted peacefully to Heaven on February 1, 2016 after a heroic battle with cancer. Treasured daughter of Anne (Cizmar) and the late Michael Micak, sister to Irene (Karl Bauer), Michael (Kristy Micak), and Peter, best friend to Aunt Betty Foley, and daughter-in-law to Emilia (Katrusik) and the late Blazej Lovasik. Wonderful niece, aunt, Godmother, cousin, friend and joy-spreader to every person she met. Her sparkling blue eyes, cheerful smile and warm heart will live on in us forever. Resting at Centre Funéraire Côte-des-Neiges on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10 a.m., in the Centre Funéraire Côte- des-Neiges Chapel. We'd like to thank the Saint Mary's Hospital Oncology and Palliative teams for their compassionate care.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Sue's passing. When I retired from McGill a few years ago her eyes were indeed twinkling, her smile was infectious and she provided an oasis of calm and warmth to all of her colleagues. My very sincere condolences of all members of her family and many friends.

Sue worked for many years with Peter and I at McGill and although it has been several years, I still remember her energy and bright smile so vividly. We joked about both being "Susan Elizabeth". At work, she was competent, enthusiastic, and enormously helpful and a true asset to our group. But more than that, she always asked about our families and was quick to lend a caring and attentive ear. She often spoke of her own family and was so happy to share her pride of those she clearly cared deeply for. My sincerest condolences for your loss.

I want to express my deepest sympathies to the Lovasik and extended family. You have all been in my prayers and will continue to be. I know how much Susan meant to all of you (especially to Aunt Betty and Tara as I have been following along and holding Susan up in prayer for some time). May God's strength carry you through this time of overwhelming grief.

Dear John, Deanna, and Laura,

Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. We remember Sue fondly from our days at McGill. She was the most wonderful co-worker anyone could ever hope for. She solved every single problem we could throw at her. Each time the Dean's office tried to take her away from us we fought tooth and nail to keep her and always succeeded. We are so sorry to hear that she has now been taken away from you.
