Suzan Weston Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 24, 2025.
Suzan Kathleen Weston (Sprague), 70, passed away on February 13, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, following a long and courageous battle with COPD. Born on August 14, 1954, in Chandler, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Billy Sprague and Mary Ann Powers. She was a gifted, talented and creative person, who was loved by many.

As a young girl, Suzan enjoyed playing with dolls, and on her local playground, she enjoyed the jungle gym. Later, her athleticism shone through as an accomplished gymnast, and her early love for music and singing laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for performing and sharing her beautiful vocal talent with others. Throughout her life, Suzan found joy in music - Country was her favorite - singing, playing guitar, songwriting, dancing and crocheting. She had a deep affection for animals, with dogs holding a special place in her heart.

After her family relocated to Orange County, California, Suzan attended and graduated from Huntington Beach High School. She later pursued her education at El Camino College while embarking on a diverse and fulfilling career. Her first job involved staining wood blocks, a task she believed contributed to her creative and artistic talents. She later worked as a file clerk for Star's Financial Bank in Santa Ana, California, and held secretarial and administrative assistant roles, including a position as an executive assistant for an investment banking firm. After moving to Torrance, California, Suzan joined Epson, where she worked for many years, first in the service and shipping department and later taking on various administrative roles within the company.

Beyond her professional life, Suzan was known for her kind and generous spirit. Deeply dedicated to helping others, she shared her wisdom and experience and giving back to anyone in need was a constant throughout her adult life. She was a trusting, grateful, forgiving person and a friend to many. She cared greatly about the struggles of others. Through her own personal journey with sobriety and path to recovery, she became a passionate advocate for a sober lifestyle, dedicated to helping others find hope. With humility, compassion, and understanding, she offered support, love and guidance to countless people in need. Suzan lived her life hopeful, overcoming many challenges throughout her life with determination, resilience and incredible strength. One of her favorite quotes was "Dream Big!" A romantic at heart, Suzan believed in love - and when she found it, she loved deeply, grateful for being loved in return. Her faith was central to her life, and she strived to serve God daily. She will forever be remembered by those who loved her as God seeking, encouraging others to find their way. She is no doubt, now at peace, resting in His comforting embrace.

She is survived by her brother, Billy Lee Sprague, half brothers Scott Sprague and Bill Sprague Jr, her half sisters Amanda and Tiffany Sprague, and daughter, Mikayla Ann Person and son-in-law Josh Barrier of North Carolina, and several cousins.

Suzan's final resting place will be in Chandler, Oklahoma, and a Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date. Suzan's memory will forever be in the hearts of those who knew her.

I didn´t know Suzan well, but I got to know her a little through her talking on the phone with my mother (her cousin) Leanne Sprague Rozell. She was a very kind lady. She sent me roses once when I was in the hospital. I´m am so sorry for her family´s loss. I pray for peace and comfort during this difficult time.
