The Colony, Texas - It is with great sorrow, the Chisolm and Hamby families announce the passing of our dear wife, daughter, sister and friend Suzy. Suzanne Michelle (Hamby) was born on May 14, 1976 to Kent and Susan Hamby in Harlingen, Texas.

Suzy attended St. Anthony's Catholic School, Coakley Middle School and Harlingen High School South where she graduated in 1994 after developing lifelong friendships. After high school, Suzy attended the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio where she graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Analytics. During her time in San Antonio, she met the love of her life Steve Chisolm. The two were inseparable and she was over the moon when Steve proposed in 1999 while in Las Vegas on a family vacation. Steve and Suzy were married in February 2000 in the presence of family and close friends. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to pursue their careers. After a little over three years in Utah, an opportunity became available for them to move back to Texas in 2004 where they settled in Dallas. They welcomed their first child together a few months later, a baby boy named Dean in 2004. In 2007, they welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Cameron.

Suzy loved her family and friends fiercely. She would welcome everyone with the happiest of smiles and had a laugh that would light up a room. Her words of encouragement and support never went unnoticed.

Left to cherish Suzy's memory is her husband of 23 years, Steve Chisolm, her greatest joys her children Dean and Cameron (Cammie), her brothers Chris (Stephanie) of Harlingen, Todd of Houston and Matt (Kara) of Harlingen. She also leaves behind her father-in-law Del; her mother-in-law Christine; brother-in-law Andrew.

Suzy is survived by her nieces and nephews Mackenzie Hamby, Logan Hamby, Ethan Hamby, Ryan Hamby, Harrison Chisolm & Holden Chisolm and aunts, uncles and extended family and friends.

Suzy is preceded in death by her loving and caring parents Kent and Susan Hamby.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow to honor Suzy with family and friends welcome to attend at the Lofton Residence.

In lieu of flowers, you can donate to your favorite charity or ASPCA in Suzy's name.

Suzy was a dear friend I attended school with from 1st-8th grade. The majority of my childhood memories include Suzy and our classmates in elementary. I remember Suzy being extremely intelligent, funny, and great to be around. Her laugh was contagious and energy was second to none. Unfortunately, time and distance interfered and I lost touch with her many years ago. May God bless her family, now and forever.

I worked closely with Suzy on her most recent team at Blue Cross. She was funny, smart, diligent, and caring. We knew we could trust all of the work she did, and I knew she was always ready to help whenever I needed it. She was a dear friend and a wonderful teammate, and I will always miss her.

Suzanne was such a bright light and full of life. I enjoyed working with her so much at Concentra. Hearing the stories about Dean always made me laugh and then I was around when Miss Cami was born, even visited Suzanne in the hospital while on bed rest. Earth has lost a beautiful soul, but Heaven has gained a beautiful angel and Steve, Dean and Cami, you have the best guardian angel.
