Sylvio H. LeBlanc, 67, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday evening in UMass Memorial Medical Center after an illness. Sylvio was born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada, February 1, 1945, and lived in Gardner for many years. He married his beloved wife Marie L. (Lore) LeBlanc September 21, 1996, and together they shared over 16 years of marriage. Sylvio was an avid sports fan and a talented hockey player. He played for a semi-professional team at the Original Boston Garden. He liked watching sports, especially NASCAR. Sylvio enjoyed trips to Hampton Beach, fishing, gardening, and listening to country music. Besides his wife Marie, Sylvio is survived by one son; James LeBlanc of Winchendon, three brothers; Bernie LeBlanc and his wife Lorraine of Gardner, Antoine LeBlanc and his wife Jolene of Bouctouche, New Brunswick, and Jean Claude LeBlanc of Moncton, New Brunswick, six sisters; Viola Richard of Gardner, Doris Champagne of Gardner, Bernadette Cormier and her husband Raoul of Leominster, Huguette LeBlanc of Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Antoinette Maillet of Leominster, and Hectorinne Takala and her husband Clyde of Cotuit, MA, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Sylvio was predeceased by his daughter; Lisa D. LeBlanc in 2004, two brothers; Alderic LeBlanc and Normand LeBlanc, and one sister; Antoinette LeBlanc. Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Sylvio's life by gathering for a memorial service in the Community Chapel of Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, on Saturday, January 19, 2013 beginning at 10AM.
