Tanya Martin

On August 7, 2021, Tanya (Nita) Martin departed this life. She was born on January 15, 1955 and was the 3rd child of Essie B. and the late Woodrow Cooley Sr. Tanya was a proud graduate of F.T. Nicholls Sr. High (Class of 1973). She worked at Hibernia Bank and The Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital. Recently, Tanya retired after 20 years from Ochsner Foundation Hospital. Nita leaves behind: her husband Richard Martin, two sons: Landrius Cooley and Derrick Martin, Mother Essie B. Cooley, one sister Joyce Kelly (Calvin), two brothers: Robert Cooley Sr. and Woodrow Cooley Jr. (Sylvia), uncle D.K. Cooley; God daughter Chamelon McFarlane, three sisters-in- law: Lisa Martin, Joan Martin and Debra Cooley; eight nieces, eight nephews, her best friend Cynthia and a host of relatives and close friends. Preceded in death by her father Woodrow Cooley Sr, brother Alfred C Clayton, sisters-in-law Geraldine Cooley, Phyllis Taylor, Carol Martin McConduit and A.J. Martin; mother-in-law Lois Martin, nephew Desmon L. Cooley, and two great nephews: Terrence L. Cooley Jr. and Robert L. Cooley III. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, for 9:30 a.m. at Greater Little Rock Baptist Church, 10201 Dwyer Rd., New Orleans, LA 70117. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Greater Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, Zachery, LA. Due to COVID-19, all attendees are Required to wear face masks.
