To John Mellencamp and the entire Mellencamp Family,

It is with measureless sadness and regret that I write this entry. I want to express my deepest sympathies and condolences on the passing of Ted Mellencamp. I think I speak for all of the John's fans when I say that we were all profoundly saddened to hear the news. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Mr. Mellencamp myself, but I know some did, and he was always kind and generous with his time.

I am well aware that all of you have plenty of support at such a somber time, but I wanted you to know that there are SO many wishing you well, and praying for your family. I'm sure you recognize that for so many of us John, though we don't know him personally, is like family to us, as we have grown up with him, and he has provided the soundtrack to so many of our lives. As a result, people have been posting tributes and memorials online for Mr. Ted Mellencamp all weekend.

I know I'm not alone when I say I have had a family member stricken with this heinous disease, and it is more than heartbreaking! There really are no words.

Please let me just say to all of you, may you find peace and comfort in your memories and reflection of your son, brother, father, cousin, and friend. And know that he is at peace, and now he has all the answers.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers!

My prayers to the family for the loss of Ted. He was wonderful with the friends Eric had in school. My memory of him will always be when he made a special trip to see me at work and let me know he would make sure my daughter and the other kids would be alright on their senior trip to Florida. He was a caring soul. God Bless this family, I keep all of you in my prayers.

Dear family,
I was saddened to hear the news of Ted's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his extended family.
Although I graduated prior to Ted from Seymour high school, my late brother Duane Rhoades was a friend.

May you find comfort in knowing how much he will be missed by so many and remember him through his children and grandchildren he was so blessed to have in his life.
