I think of Ted often especially when I hear a great drummer reminding me of Ted and his gift. I can't believe it has been this many years

Hi Cindy! After your birthday wishes this year, I began thinking about you guys and the fun I´d have coming by for a lesson and hanging out. To say that Ted was bigger than life would be just about right. He was a lot of fun and his drumming inspired a lot of people.
When I first moved back to Buffalo in 1990, my good friend Kevin McGinty told me, You gotta see this guy!
So one winter night we walked in and Willy and the Reinhardts were lighting the place up. I walked around to the side to check out his drumming and he was barefoot. The mark of a true master. From then on we were buddies. Ted never put on airs and talking shop was always a gas. He was a regular guy with unbelieveable talent.
We all miss him.

I can't believe it's been six years... Ted was like a brother to me. I miss the way he used to say my name in that deep, gruff way -- followed by a huge hug. I learned to really appreciate drum solos because of him. I miss him every day. His love for his family, Cindi and Trudy was epic. And also for his dogs. Decades ago I had to have my dog put down and Ted's eyes teared up when I told him. He could talk about anything; always learning, absorbing life. I used to get mad at him when he thought I was taking things too seriously (I'm talking about my obsession with Gamalon here), but in his heart of hearts he knew it was only my passion for the music that made me as stubborn as he was. lol! I will always be grateful to him for allowing me to play my supportive role even though sadly, in retrospect, there were other areas in my life I neglected while doing so. We live and learn. We all learned what a truly wonderful human being is by knowing Ted Reinhardt. God bless ya brother.

Miss you Ted like it was yesterday. I was devastated losing a dear friend (like a brother) to me. You were more than an unbelievably talented drummer you were sweet, special, funny, loving and so dedicated to your family especially Mother and Father. I know in my heart you are with them and that brings me peace. However the pain of losing you in such a way will be there forever. Love and think of you often RIP. Love you Ted

It was awesome to be in a great band like Rodan but the best privilege was to have Teddy as the drummer. We became close again just before his passing and that friendship never ended even though his life did. I loved him.

I've known Ted since we were kids. We both played the drums but Ted took it to another level.. He was a very gifted person. Later on I used to go out to his Clarence house and jam a bit with him... Played across the stage from him at McVans when he was in RODAN. What a truly accomplished driven super star.. The gentle giant . Last time I saw Ted was at the Billy Cobham concert at the Tralf and he sat with us for a bit. Sure miss you Ted.

Teddy was such a gentle hearted soul man who loved people, life, music, & animals. He is probably one of the nicest and most approachable musicians I knew. I also met him @The Mohawk Place, CPG's, Scotch&Sirloin & Broadway Joe's. He was the best drummer I ever saw live! My son&I loved him dearly. His death was a shock to me&still is. It wasn't his time to go. I have nothing but good memories of him. I loved when Dr.Dirty-John Valby, would come&jam with him@The Mohawk Place! I loved Gamalon & all of his bands. My heart is still heavy. RIP Teddy. Desiree & Brodey Cummins

The Reinhardt Family I am so sorry to hear about Teddy such a wonderful man. Many years ago you all you were a big part of my life. I have such wonderful memories in the back room of the flower shop Mr and Mrs R and their boys. To his wife you were loved by the best, to his brothers your best friend will always be with you. May God Bless you all in this very difficult time.
March 21, 2015
I knew Ted from Friday nights at the Mohawk. He was such a special and talented person above and beyond his drum playing...so kind and intelligent. My heart is so heavy for his entire family but in these last couple of weeks every time I have thought of this tragedy I say a special prayer for Tom. Ted lives on in all of you and in all of his fans. I remember a conversation we had once where he was telling me about how his resilience for playing had grown over the years and at that point he felt he could just play and play without taking a break. He joined a hell of a band in heaven and they are so happy to have him. I hope that the thought of him playing away as I picture him gives you comfort every day.

I was so saddened to hear of the tragic death of Ted. I knew him long ago, back in the days of Rodan and McVans. I have not lived in Buffalo in a long time, but visit regularly, and had seen Ted a few times since then, and it was always fun to reconnect, if only briefly. I have always remembered him fondly, and of course, I was always blown away by his immense talent. To all of Ted's family, please accept my sincerest condolences, and may he rest in peace.

My heart goes out to Tom,Tim and the entire Reinhardt family. I was as shocked and saddened as everyone else to hear of his passing. I may not have known Ted as well as many others did but every chance I had to be around Ted he always had time for you. Always very friendly and so much fun to be around. I will never forget all the bands that I had a chance to see Ted play in. Rodan,Spyro Gyra, and Gamelon to name a few. He was a phenomenal drummer as well as a phenomenal human being. Ted was the perfect example of how a person should treat others. Always humble and kind. We will all miss Ted but his spirit and music will live on in all of us. Again I am so sorry for your loss.

The last time we laughed and talked about "old times" was at the River Grill last summer in Town of Tonawanda with the River Dogs. Such fun, never knowing that would be the last time I would sing with him playing on the drums. What a pleasure. I forgot how tall he was till we stood and chatted.
My prayers go out to his family at this sad time. RIP Ted you will be so missed.

Dear Cindy and Trudi, Liz and Tom and all of Ted's family and friends - our heart is breaking for you - this unspeakable loss. My fondest memories of Ted come from Gamelon rehearsing in our cold December basement - the music wafting up through the floor boards and Ted doing his level best to seal the cookies I was baking upstairs - always the gentleman - always making time and space for all who entered his orbit. His inspiration and spirit will live on in his music and in the hearts of everyone he touched - our most heartfelt and sincere condolences to all of you...may you find peace - With much love

I was lucky to grow up with Ted in the 60's in the town Tommy calls "not quite 'Leave it to Beaver'." I was fortunate to see Willie and the Reinhardts twice in the last 10 years in Black Rock and Marilla, the Hoods and the Woods. Few, if any of us could be like Ted who aspired, achieved and excelled then became so greatly appreciated and now so greatly missed.

From the days of Uncle Meat, my family has enjoyed your company and kind spirit. I had the privilege of growing up and maturing as a drummer with you both as an idol, and as a friend. I loved our conversations, and wish I had made the time to study with you more. I still have the cymbal lcase you bought for me, and it will serve as a touchstone for me, inspiration when I need it most. I can never repay all the joy you have given me, only hope to share some small measure through my own performing, and well, just being a nice guy. You always exemplified how talent didn't have to come at the expense of humanity and grace. Thank you, thank you, ... thank you for just being you.

Dear Reinhardt family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember meeting Ted back in the early 70's as a teenager in the neighborhood & occasionally listening to them practice in the cellar of their home; they were fantastic & I never missed a local performance anywhere I could get in - no one played the drums like he did. Ted was always so kind & humble (and so funny!) whether on stage or in the family's florist shop & to everyone he spoke to, he just loved people & his loss will be felt by all who knew him. Let your love, memories & our Lord comfort you. Remember God's promise to us: 'When you go through the deep waters, I will be with you'. (Is 43:2). Keeping you all close in prayer...

Dear Cindy, Tom. Tim and families. We were so sorry to hear about Ted. He was here in December delivering my Birthday flowers, came back in January with his Dad's walker, it was dirty from being under the porch so he took it through the car wash?? How did he do that.
He started sitting in when we played at Mudds, then amazingly joined the Tin Roof when our drummer took a cruise job. We played Mad Hatter, Joan & Ed came too, Ted was mortified when his Dad was bumming cigs. Played at the Tralf for Ted's 50th, we should have been playing at his 70th. Gone too soon.
Irene & Tony Fraser & Tin Roof Band RIP Ted.

Cindy, Tom, without Teddy connecting us, I don't know when I'll see you again, but I hope I will. Please know, my heart's deepest sympathies go out to both of you, and to your families.
In being a 'Gamalon Loyalist' I came to know Teddy, and have wonderful memories of his playing in Gamalon, Gamalon Rhythm Orchestra, Maelstrom Percussion, Junction West, River Dogs, Willie and the Reinhardts, The Dave Constantino Band, Left Hand Of Darkness, and Ron and the Reinhardts. Ever-humble, funny, wise, curious, talented, hard-working, and kind, Ted was at once a gentle-giant of a man, and an absolute beast behind the kit! My condolences go out to Ted's friends and fans as well.
Teddy always shared such great stories, laughter and hugs! Our shared love of prog brought about some great exchanges. I'll miss sharing with him cool music I come across, and receiving even better recommendations from him. His child-like exuberance when telling me of going on a prog cruise, remains locked in my memory. Like so many others, I am truly devastated that he's gone; yet, these musical and other wonderful memories of him will be with me always. Each year on our birthday, I will recall with great fondness, my remarkable friend. Teddy, I love you, man- and I always will. You were held to the light too soon, but that light shines much brighter now that you're part of it.

Ted was one of the ones who got "it". He looked at the music scene as we are all in this together. Never an attitude problem and always as positive about music and other musician's as possible. We respected each other as musician's as well as human beings. Ted, you will forever be "The Man" in my heart, around here. Love you like a brother. Respect you as a man.
