Theodore Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 24, 2017.
Theodore Roosevelt Johnson, Jr., affectionately known as "Bo-Bo", heard a call from God and he quietly went to his eternal resting place on Monday, April 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at his home in King George, Va. A native and lifelong resident of King George County, Va, born on September 13, 1932, in Owens, Va to the late Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. and Florence (Pratt) Johnson. He became a member of the Little Ark Baptist Church at an early age under the pastorship of the late Rev. George Carter. He served faithfully singing on The Young Men's Jubilee, serving as a Trustee - while lending a hand with many projects in the church. On February 28, 1953, he was united in holy matrimony to Margaret P. Johnson. Theodore retired in 1988, from Blake Construction but didn't truly retire because he was still a part- time plumber with J.J. Johnson - providing service to Simmons Construction. Theodore suggested that Simmons Construction do the remodeling of the Little Ark Baptist Church. His work experiences led him to meet a variety of people, many of whom have become lasting friends. He loved spending time outdoors, working in his flowers, tending to the yard and decorating his home with Christmas lights. During the Christmas holiday, he would get to the peak of the house to display the lights saying jokingly "if I fall.......I have my cell phone and I can call 911" and Margaret's response was "I hope you'll be able to". He enjoyed drinking his share of "sweet ice tea" and eating "lots" of sweets. He spent much of his pastime being a "handyman" doing carpentry and plumbing. He absolutely loved spending time with his family, friends and the Retired Old Men Eating Out (ROMEO) group. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, six brothers and a grandchild. He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret (Honey) Johnson; two daughters, Sharon Allen (Stanley); Wanda Doney (Willie), two sons Theo (aka -"Ricky") Johnson and Derrick Johnson (Cynthia); eleven grandchildren, a host of great and great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Bumbrey, one brother-in-law Augustus Pryor, and two sisters-in-law Corean Hodge and Liza Parr. He will also be sadly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and "adopted granddaughter" Leola C. McDowney and her husband, Charles.
