Therman Barclay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 12 to Mar. 14, 2008.
Dec. 13, 1946 — March 7, 2008

Therman Barclay, 61, went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2008.

He was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Talladega, Ala., the son of Frank and Mitilda Barclay. He retired from Delco Remy after 30 1/2 years, and had also been employed at Hoosier Park.

Therman was a fun-loving, cheerful person who was full of jokes. His hobbies included playing cards, listening to music and dancing. The Isley Brothers and Eddie and Gerald Levert were his favorites.

Therman leaves to cherish their memories of 30 years, his loving Margret Mallet, with whom he shared friendship, loyalty and multifaith, and with whom he raised Britt Youngblood. Together they learned to love Jesus.

Therman is also survived by a son, Therman D. (wife, Lakeitha) Barclay of Detroit, Mich.; a daughter, Bernice Danita Barclay of Anderson; two brothers, Houston (wife, Charlene) Barclay and Herman (wife, Donna) Barclay, all of Anderson; a sister, Florine Stockdale of Talladega, Ala.; two sisters-in-law, Nettie Barclay of Anderson and Mary Barclay of Talladega, Ala.; mother-in-law, Ella Mimms; three grandchildren, Mary, Chucky, Chazz; three great-grandchildren, Samari, Sam and Thomaris; stepchildren, Kenny Woods, Ted Collier, Britt Mallet and Tonia Mallet, all of Anderson, and Edward (Sugar) Collier of Virginia; and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Ruth Calhoun, Corine B. Burt and Rose Dickerson; and brothers, Willie Barclay, Ayres Barclay, Charlie Barclay, McCordis Barclay, Frank Barclay and James Barclay.

The family would also like to express appreciation to Dr. John Woodall, Dr. Preetham Jetty and their staff, along with Healthy Hearts, Community, Indiana University and Ball Memorial hospitals, Community Heart Center and the New Berean Church family.

Services will be at noon Saturday at L.C. May Funeral Services, 2024 Madison Ave., Anderson, with the Rev. James Nave Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.

A Better Place

He’s in a better place right now
Than he’s ever been before;
All pain is gone; he’s now at rest;
Nothing troubles him anymore.

It’s we who feel the burden of
Our sadness and our grief;.
We have to cry, to mourn our loss,
Before we get relief.

We know we’ll reconnect with him
At the end of each life’s road;
We’ll see his cherished face again
When we release our earthly load.

Therman, you will be missed. I have known you all my life, and we have shared many laughs through the years. Thanks for always giving us something we can smile about. I love you, and rest in peace, because God knows best. Margaret(Cuz) you know, I love you and I am sorry I cannot come to be there, but I love you.... To the rest of "our" family, much love and peace always-affectionately known by Therman and forever remebered as_-"Lil' Reba", and you know we are in continuous prayer always for you.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
