Thomas Chambers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 9, 2025.
Thomas Glenn Chambers (1962-2025)

Thomas "Glenn" Chambers, 63, of Charlotte, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior early on Friday June 6, 2025.

Glenn's unwavering relationship with Christ was the foundation of his life, guiding his choices and shaping each of his relationships. Glenn was deeply loved and known for his steadiness, compassion, wisdom, humor, and servant's heart. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, colleague, and mentor. Glenn loved people deeply and showed up for them in impactful ways, often through heartfelt conversations, sharing wisdom, unwavering support, and consistent willingness to put others before himself.

In the final four years of his life, Glenn fought multiple myeloma with extraordinary strength, bravery, and positivity. He rarely complained, choosing instead to encourage those around him with grace and hope, remaining present through it all. You would have rarely known the battle he was facing.

Born on March 5, 1962, Glenn grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and went on to study Business and Accountancy at Wake Forest University. He began his career as a CPA with Ernst & Young and went on to serve as a trusted CFO and CEO for several companies, helping businesses grow. His most notable role was as CFO & President of U.S. Global Ventures of the Nuqul Group in Jordan, where he served with integrity and excellence for 20+ years.

Glenn was also a devoted board member of the Movement Foundation since its founding in 2012 and the Karis Foundation since 2019. Over the years he was a steady and passionate champion for the vision of giving back to the community in meaningful, lasting ways. He was a trusted sounding board, offering wise words and incredible discernment when it mattered most. Over the past 13 years, he played a key role in stewarding millions of dollars toward community efforts through both of these foundations - an impact that will be felt for years to come.

Glenn served his church community faithfully, giving his time, resources, and leadership. He also served for many years on the Expansion Team at Elevation Church, participated in Charlotte Leadership Forum and The Master's Program through Priority Living, supported the Charlotte Rescue Mission, and helped launch Young Life in Union County, where he served as chairman of the committee.

Glenn loved the outdoors, especially landscaping, and spent much of his free time in the yard planting and tending to the greenery. He was passionate about creating a beautiful outdoor space for the enjoyment of those he loved. Glenn also loved music and sang in many church choirs over the years; he could often be heard singing around the house, in the office, or while driving in the car. He and Rebecca especially enjoyed hosting friends and family in their home, particularly during Christmas, Glenn's favorite holiday. He loved sharing tasty meals with others and cherished traveling with Rebecca, and the many adventures they shared around the world. More than anything, Glenn loved being with his family.

Glenn is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Rebecca; his children, Madeleine McAdoo and husband Ryan of Nashville, TN; William Chambers and wife Courtney of Charlotte, NC; and Lillian Chambers of Charlotte, NC; his sister, Cathy Bailey of Raleigh, NC; and his five treasured grandchildren: Judah, Noah, and Selah McAdoo, and Nathan and Clayton Chambers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Hillary Chambers and Lorna Angell Chambers, and his sister, Nancy Chambers Port.

The family would like to thank the Levine Cancer Institute for their dedicated care over the past four years, especially Dr. Bhutani and her team, whose compassion meant the world to us.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Carmel Baptist Church (1145 Pineville-Matthews Rd, Matthews, NC 28105). The family invites you to wear joyful colors, and a tan, if possible in celebration of Glenn's life.

The family would love for you to share your favorite memories and what Glenn meant to you on Legacy.com.

It´s hard to put into words what Glenn Thomas meant to me-not just in my career, but in my life.

Glenn wasn´t just a mentor. He was an anchor during some of the most difficult storms I´ve ever faced. When life felt overwhelming or uncertain, Glenn was always there-not with fanfare or speeches, but with steady encouragement, quiet strength, and a deep belief in me that helped me keep going when I wasn´t sure I could.

In many ways, I believe Glenn was an angel placed in my path. His wisdom shaped my journey, but it was his heart-his kindness, humility, and unwavering support-that left the deepest mark. He helped me grow not just as a professional, but as a person.

I will miss him more than words can say. His legacy lives on in all of us who were lucky enough to be touched by his life. Glenn, thank you for everything. I carry your guidance and your spirit with me, always.

With heartfelt gratitude and love,
Billy Jordan, Jr

I worked for Glenn for nearly 20 years. Over those years, I came to admire Glenn not only for his extraordinary wisdom and work ethic but also for his deep devotion to his family. His leadership was inspiring, and his sense of integrity and dedication set an example for everyone fortunate enough to work with him. Glenn had a unique ability to balance hard work with kindness, always making time for the people who mattered most - his family, his colleagues, and his friends. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to know and work for Glenn, and I will miss him dearly. His lessons - both personal and professional - have shaped me in ways I will always carry forward.
I had the privilege of meeting and getting to know his wonderful family - Rebecca, Will, Madeleine, and Lilly - and my heart goes out to them during this incredibly difficult time. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
Rest in peace, Glenn. Your legacy will live on in the lives you touched, and your memory will always be cherished.

Glenn was more than just a close friend to me - he was like a brother. Though we lived in different countries, the bond we shared over the past two decades felt anything but distant.
I will always value the many conversations we shared - thoughtful, honest, and filled with laughter. Whether we were talking about family, politics, or life´s challenges, I found in Glenn a voice of wisdom, sincerity, and balance.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

Rebecca, Madeleine, Will and Lillian - I am so sorry for your loss. Glenn was a truly fine man. He taught me a great deal about leadership and more about life. I think often about the time he and I spent together and the lessons I learned. I hope in time you can find peace in your wonderful memories of Glenn. With my deepest sympathy.

Rebecca, I am so sorry for your loss of Glenn. I have prayed for him almost every day as I am sure you have. Good thing we have not really lost him but only seperated for awhile. Also, we have many waiting to greet him. I know Ellen will give him a big hug.

He and I would meet on South blvd for breakfast before work. We would just talk and share time together. What a wonderful experience for me. He was a wise man, always able to provide wisdom to any conversation.

Rebecca and family.
There are people that cross our paths in life different times and for different purposes. Glenn was one of those that even when you lose connection, they made such an influence that remains throughout your life.
Glen had a great sense for people and their character. I´ll always respect that of him.
The one memory I´ll carry also is his compassion for his work, his beliefs but mostly the love and pride for his family.
Especially the kids in their younger years that I knew them. Maddi, Wil and little Lilly.
You have a remarkable angel watching from above. I feel very blessed to have once known this remarkable man.

Glenn was a true friend, a mentor, a connoisseur, a lover of nature and foremost he loved God and his Family. He touched our lives in so many ways, too many to list. It will be a giant void in our lives.

I met Glenn through work, but we grew to be good friends. I always admired his approach to dealing with people and am so happy I had the opportunity to get connected with him years ago. What I admired about Glenn was that he didn't let his medical issues prevent him from continuing to work and connect with people, I hope I can be as positive as Glenn when I am facing challenges in the future.

What stands out the most to me in remembering Glenn was his dry wit and candor - which by the way was tidily enveloped in wisdom and mercy...
He could so nicely call a "spade a spade"when it was so necessary for someone to do so!
Glenn was very bright and obviously loved the Lord with all of His mind and his heart. May he rest now with Jesus in joy and peace!
