Thomas Estes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 8 to Jul. 9, 2008.
Estes,Thomas R., Sr.Estes, Jill S. Our hearts were broken June 30, 2008 when our precious parents Thomas R., Sr. and Jill S. Estes were taken from us. Thomas, born December 28, 1953 in St. Louis, MO, carried on a family tradition working for over thirty years for Union Pacific Railroad. Respected by all who knew him, Tom was the Wizard of Oz, the man behind the curtain, who kept everything in working order. He showed his love by taking care of his family. Never at a loss when asked for help, Tom would find an answer to any question and carry any task through to completion. A simple man, but his technical knowledge and expertise were surpassed by few. Jill was born March 13, 1954 in St. Louis, MO. After staying at home to raise her two preschool-aged children, Jill spent nearly 20 years working for Pulaski County Special School District. She is loved by the many special children she attended. A caregiver by nature, she wore her heart for all to see. Jill was a natural with children and animals. She was the go-to lady for sick or lost creatures. Jill was kind and gentle and let everyone know she loved them. Tom and Jill were married May 26, 1973 in St. Louis, MO. They resided for over 20 years in Sherwood, AR. Children are daughter Jaime Steed and husband Patrick of Springdale, AR and Thomas Estes, Jr. and wife Kristina of Alexander, AR; as well as grandson Logan Estes of Alexander. Tom and Jill were special parents to puppies Webster and Reggie Ray, cats, Stevie and Itty, and many other pets. They are preceded in death by their parents Jack Estes of St. Louis, MO, and Edward Weber, Sr. and Isabel Weber of St. Louis, MO. In addition to their children and grandson, they are survived by mother Mazie Estes of Sherwood, AR, sister Brenda Whittley and husband Sonny of Imperial, MO, sister Sandra Behlmann and husband Arthur of St. Louis, MO, and brother Edward Weber, Jr. and wife Lisa of Florissant, MO, and a host of friends and family.Services:Memorial visitation 3-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 9th at HUTCHENS Mortuary, 675 Graham Rd., Florissant, MO with the memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10th at Hutchens, interment Friedens Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. I too was a classmate of both Jill and Tom. Jill was in Chorus with all of us our Senior year. I knew both since our elementary years. I remember she had the most beautiful dress for our first dance in 7th grade!!! Jill and I were best friends that year. Though time and distance has wedged between us we all still have pleasant memories of days gone by. May God comfort the loved ones who have lost Jill and Tom
My prayers are with the families.

To Tom and Jills family,
I'm so sorry to hear about your parents.I went to highschool with them. They were the two of the kindest people I've known.I had wood shop with Tom and he was quite a woodworker.Very particular about his work.I remember him working at the trophy shop and the awsome Chevy Nova he had.The car never was allowed to be dirty.I also remember Toms band, they played on a morning kids show. The world will miss the gentile people they were.

Dear Estes Family,
Our hearts are broken, we are so sorry for your loss. Ms. Jill was special to my boys who attended the school she taught at. She would greet us at the curb every morning ,give the children a hug and a "good morning!" Our fondest memory will be how she had a treat in her pocket every day for our dog Molly who would ride in the van with us to school. Your loved ones made a loving impression on EVERYONE they met. They will always be remembered with love and a smile. We were all blessed to have known them during their time here on Earth. Just know they are with their Lord now and look to Him to bring you peace.
In Deepest Sympathy,
The Childers Family
