Tom was the professor for my first college class at MCC, I was 27 years old, a single mother and unsure if college was the right place for me. Tom was my friend, not just my professor. At the time my son was 3 years old, a friend of mine was taking care of him while I was in Tom's class. It was a few days before mother's day and my friend brought my son to Tom's class and my son had flowers for me. My son ran into the classroom (disrupting Tom's lecture) and yelled happy mother's day. My face turned red but my son was so happy. He was wearing a tweed suit jacket with elbow patches. After the hellos my son walked up to Tom and said hi Mr. Gwrasso. Tom picked him up and explained that he needed to finish class. They both had the elbow patches and tweed jackets on. Tom proceeded to finish the lecture with my son on his hip. Tom had a way of making all people feel important and respected. He changed the trajectory of my life. Fortunately a few years ago we had lunch and I was able to tell him. I eventually went on to get a Master Degree at Nazareth. Both of my sons also have college degrees. Tom has impacted more people positively than anyone knows. I will miss him and just found out today that he passed. Rest in peace dear friend, thank you for your compassion, insight, intelligence, kindness, and improving the quality of my life, my children's lives and all the people I work with, I will miss you always. Love and prayers to Tom's family, he spoke of you often and loved you all deeply.

I had intended to become a high school history teacher...until I took Tom Grasso's historical geology course at MCC. He inspired me to become an earth science teacher. A beloved professor to so many of us. I remember him with great appreciation. A life well lived.

It has been 33 years, but I still recall Prof. Grasso as one of my favorite college professors of all time. I was always eager to attend his Geology class and he made it fun. I went from MCC to the University of Dayton and have since moved away from Rochester, but I'll always have good memories of him.

We are so sad to lose Tom ... not only as a dear friend but as a champion of all things related to canals in general and the Erie Canal in particular. Our warmest condolences to Carola and all Tom's family members. We'll look forward to attending the celebration of life when it is scheduled.

Do not stand at my grave and weep..I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the gentle Autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand and my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die!
Peace and Angel wings as you glide through the Heavens Mr. Grasso.
My sympathies to your family for they will miss you!
