Thomas HOLBROOK Obituary

Published by Tampa Bay Times on May 15, 2014.
HOLBROOK, Dr. Thomas E. 76, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 after a long illness. Dr. Holbrook, a Captain in the USAF, was a well-respected Tampa periodontist for 50 years and pioneering clinician who developed and patented surgical procedures and equipment now used worldwide in periodontal medicine. Dr. Holbrook's life was a study in faith, family and service to his community. Beyond his professional accomplishments and less well-known are Dr. Holbrook's many acts of kindness and support, both financial and spiritual, to individuals and families alike. His devotion to his family was no less profound, serving as father, son, husband, mentor, brother and friend to all who were fortunate enough to fall within his caring reach. Active in many professional and service organizations, he was a lifelong Rotarian and Elder Emeritus of Trinity Presbyterian Church of which he and his late wife Sandy were integral members since moving to Tampa decades ago. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandy; eldest son, Kenneth; brother; James E. Holbrook; and parents Dr. and Mrs. George E Holbrook of Wilmington, DE. Dr. Holbrook is survived by his daughter Sharon and son-in-law Danny Cooper; son David and daughter-in-law Ninette; grandchildren Lacey, Caroline, Camille, Sam, Esabella and Jack; sister-in-law Kathryn; and fiancé Sandra Burks, and many friends. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 14925 North Blvd., Tampa 33613 on Saturday, May 17th. The visitation will start at noon, with church services to begin at 1 pm and a graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to either the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation or Trinity Presbyterian Church.
