Thomas Iacovelli Obituary
Vestal - Thomas Vito Iacovelli, 60, of Vestal passed away on January 19, 2020. He is predeceased by his parents Guido Iacovelli and Marie Mastro (George Darpino) Iacovelli and his cousin Toni Lynn Iacovelli. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Angela Iacovelli, son Joseph, daughter Taylor (Mark) Caramore, granddaughters Stella, Ruby, and Charlotte Caramore. He is also survived by his siblings David Iacovelli, Rick Iacovelli, and Rosemarie Urban, nieces and nephews Dylan, Dustin, Leah and David along with Aunt and Uncle Tony and Beverly Iacovelli and cousin Michele Iacovelli, as well as many extended family members and many, many dear friends. Tom was known for being personable and kind to everyone he met. He spent many years in the restaurant business managing the Vestal Steakhouse and later as owner of the Plantation House before ultimately retiring from Wegmans in 2017. He was a volunteer and supporter of the Broome County Humane Society and loved all animals especially his three faithful companions Lucy, Dodger, and Sully. He was an avid musician, gardener, bird watcher, and Yankee fan. Tom adored his family and his favorite days were spent talking with them as well as being his children's biggest fan in all of their endeavors. In recent years he spent time playing with his 3 young granddaughters. His final days were spent at Mercy House of the Southern Tier to which his family is eternally grateful. Thank you to Melissa, who helped him through his illness, and to Dr. Sethi, Dr. Ronald Harris, the UHS Oncology staff and the neuro suite staff at Wilson Hospital for the wonderful care he received during his last year of life.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10:30 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Vestal. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Tuesday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Humane Society of Broome County or Mercy House of the Southern Tier.

I was very sad to hear of Tommy's passing. He and I enjoyed a good friendship as nextdoor neighbors when we were children. He was kind and energetic, qualities I'm sure he kept with him throughout life. My sincerest condolences to his family. You lost him much too early.

i am so sad for your loss . My name is Ann Hurliman I went to school with Tommy and went to the prom with him! We had so much fun with our group of friends back in 1979! Who had the bigger hair! i did by a little! I work at Wegmans and we reconnected a few years ago when he worked there I just wanted to tell you all he was so proud of his family! Thats all he talked about! He was such a kind and beautiful soul! He will be missed by all his Wegmans family and of course everyone who had the pleasure to know him My Sincerest Sympathy

To Angela and all the Iacovelli family - how sad I was to see that Tom has left his place on earth. It amazes me when I think of our time developing just the right image for you and Tom on your grand opening of the Plantation House, working with him at the Vestal Steakhouse and Chef Italia along with David beside Guido (a man I still think fondly of), All of you hold a special place in my heart and in my thoughts - Tom was an absolute delight with his quick wit and great attitude even with the ghosts in the restaurant. I know Guido has opened his arms to him and that they and all that have gone on before Tom are watching over you and may the heartache you feel now is a short span of time that gets replaced with happy memories. Angela, may your children carry on his warm and compassionate persona that he had spread to so many who knew him. God bless you and sending my prayers to all of you.

I will always remember Tommy's wonderful smile, and his great attitude about life. We had some great times at the motocross races in the 80's. Just last week I posed a picture of the gang at Unadilla. You will be missed my friend, it was always a joy to see you!

My condolences to the entire Iacoelli family,
I've had the blessings of having Tommy as my dear friend for approx 45 years, In all that time I remember a class A guy, who was loved by all that knew him. I also remember Tommy as always being upbeat and a complete gentleman, even throughout his bout with cancer. I was lucky to have spent time with Tommy and Angela just before the holidays.
Losing a life long (friend / brother) is a painful reminder on just how precious life is.
Rest In Peace my brother, I'll see you on the other side.
